President Trump and Vice President Vance will unveil the platform Tuesday at an all-day event in Washington featuring Elon Musk, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, Blue Origin CEO Dave Limp, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Dr. Mehmet Oz. Win too much on a sportsbook and an algorithm caps your bets within weeks. Lose $300,000 and they assign you a personal host whose job is keeping you betting.
That asymmetry is the entire business model. A 2024 Journal of Gambling Studies analysis found the top 10% of losers generate nearly 80% of a gambling site's revenue. The guy who loses the house is the customer everything is built around.
The VIP programs are the darkest part. One Arizona man was a recovering gambling addict when his state legalized online betting. He deposited $30,000 and FanDuel invited him into their VIP program the next day. A widow suing DraftKings said her husband deposited 440% of his annual salary in a single year while his host messaged him daily. Hosts get paid on betting volume.
And the wreckage is showing up in credit bureau data now. UCLA researchers tracking 4 million consumers found bankruptcy odds jump 25 to 30% within three to four years of a state legalizing online betting. Roughly 30,000 extra American bankruptcies. Debt in collections up 8%. The damage lands hardest on young men in poorer zip codes.
Handle grew from $4.9 billion in 2017 to $167 billion in 2025.
So a couple losing their house to a betting app is a story the industry already ran the numbers on. Somewhere there's a host who hit his quota because of it.

Baltimore’s proposed $16.8 million agency to divert thousands of nonviolent 911 calls from police would eventually require funding beyond the opioid settlement money being used to launch it, Mayor Brandon Scott said Monday.
The acknowledgment leaves unanswered what it would ultimately cost Baltimore taxpayers each year to operate the Department of Neighborhood Safety, which officials want to provide a 24-hour alternative to police response.
