According to this article, Asunción "Sunny" Cummings Hostin is actually upset with the holdout juror, saying she believed the cannibal defendant was aware of his actions. She was upset w/the juror pushing for a NGBROI verdict. Is she really this desperate? It’s easily checked!

Next time some androgynous-looking freak comes up to the mic citing that gun quote from Charlie, the person should make note of the context Charlie was using. Charlie was known for laying out hard truths to try to make his audience see issues more clearly and objectively. And while speaking on the topic of inalienable rights, he urged his audience not to fantasize about an unrealistic “utopian” society by noting that society has already decided that the number of auto fatalities each year is worth it so that people can travel from one place to another at a faster rate. Charlie at the 2023 event where his out of context gun quote comes from: “Driving comes with a price. 50,000 die on the road every year. That’s a price. You get rid of driving, you’d have 50,000 less auto fatalities.” If he would have been killed in a car crash, would people be circulating that quote? Probably not. It’s interesting that people never criticize those who want to drive a car (which isn’t even an inalienable right), while they misrepresent a pro-Second Amendment stance as support for gun violence, given that the annual number of auto fatalities is significantly higher than gun homicides. But Charlie had articulated a principled point: that the right to bear arms is a fundamental check against tyranny and protects against greater threats, such as government overreach and the loss of personal autonomy through the eroding of other inalienable rights. Charlie’s tough but honest view (that no right comes without unfortunate trade-offs) was meant to provoke thought about the cost of freedom, not to trivialize the loss of life, as leftists are so quick to do.
