If you were curious what the difference is between a progressive blur and a blur that is just masked, I tried to make some clear examples.
Left is the mask. The lines seem to grow a second edge, and that edge stays about the same width.
Right, the radius changes along the line. One edge, getting wider.
I tried progressive blur in Compose 1.13.0-alpha03. Overall I like it. Modifier.blur can take a flat radius, a gradient, or a shader.
