I was reported to child protective services in the US. I had taken my daughter to see Dr. Lawrence Afrin while at U of Minnesota and Dr. Claire Francomano (hEDS) at the Harvey Institute for Human Genetics in Baltimore. The reporting doctor wanted my daughter put into a psychiatric facility and me charged. Diagnoses letters were just coming through, and I handed one to CPS and the doctor who only saw my daughter for scarlet fever and a sinus infection. CPS cleared me. No repercussions for the doctor. Being charged and having to go through a CPS investigation was harrowing enough. 💙🫂
