Would like everyone to extend some grace here; Sony didn't make this decision lightly. The PlayStation was getting dangerously close to having a game, and drastic counter-measures had to be taken in response.
An update from PlayStation Studios: After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to step away from collaborating with KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS on its project PHYSINT. We continue to have great admiration for Hideo Kojima's vision for the game.
Our relationship remains strong after three decades of industry-leading, genre-defining creative cooperation, and we look forward to continued close collaboration with Hideo Kojima and his award-winning independent studio in the future.
Community note
PlayStation's statement presents the PHYSINT split as a mutual "step away" after careful consideration with future collaboration expected. Kojima stated PlayStation unexpectedly notified cancellation in mid-June 2026, forcing a 3-month search for a new partner (Xbox).

No joke, the @AmongUsGame show is so good that I scrapped a video that would have done much better in the algorithm (an Amazing Digital Circus Video) just to give Owen Dennis and the rest of the team some salty, worm kissing praise. I swear that make sense if you watch the show!

In no way, shape, or form is it ever okay to use gen AI at all, especially like this. The beauty of indie animation, and animation as a whole, is the love and care put forth to see the wonders of HUMAN imagination come to life.
JUNO will never use AI, and neither should you!
Jorge R. Gutierrez says animating with AI was like “having sex and then they hand you the baby” during his appearance at the AI on the Lot convention.
He currently has a project named ‘Punky Duck’ through Amazon MGM’s GenAI Creators’ Fund, an initiative aimed at giving creators access to professional-grade AI tools and funding for cinematic entertainment.
