While in a sense I can see what your saying and even agree to an extent, Kiril literally gave the OK for Capri to completely overwrite Talia's personality and take control, letting his daughter's body house the weapon to better his own career.
Even in a logical sense, there is no way he is saving Talia at that point or doing anything to better her, it is about him and his standing w/ Kang Tao. He is as ruthless a corporate cutthroat as they come.
Avida was emotionally manipulative throughout the story as well (now, granted, files regarding Talia's origins, genes, e.t.c. could have all been edited by Kiril since he was so immediately ready with that response for Kingsley - he may even hold insecurities if the truth is that Talia is not his actual daughter - so it is not 100% that Avida is lying or being truthful with the initial information; there is room for ambiguity there) BUT she was also doing so explicitly to save her daughter.
The issue is that while her love is absolute, she is smothering and didn't consider Talia's feelings from the other side, so she has a different type of blind or selfish love, if that makes any sense.
When push comes to shove, Kiril is definitely the worst of the two, but Avida is not without blame.
