Incredible wind reports already coming from Long Beach Island on the Jersey shore. All these have occurred between 10:40PM and 11:45PM 74 mph - Surf City 66 mph - Harvey Cedars 67 mph - Ship Bottom 61 mph - Barnegat Lighthouse Makes sense that this area is seeing major coastal flooding

Absolute mess in progress and will worsen here in surf city beach #njwx Road COMPLETELY submerged and unpassable in rapid flooding from the bay. Homes started to likely flood as flood waters are rising rapidly. Terrible situation developing for residents #wxtwitter

Cool to watch the swath of highest wind gusts approach the coast throughout the day. Red- 50mph Yellow - 60mph #Noreaster

#Noreaster looking sexy with some warm seclusion.. rain still mostly offshore, wind gusts have been gradually increasing and will get way stronger. Hallmark of this storm - LONG LASTING. This is why coastal flooding has been bad so far.

Our initial assessment of the damaged section of NC12 near the Pea Island Visitor Center indicates about 500' of undermined and/or broken pavement. As a reminder, NC12 is CLOSED between the Basnight Bridge and Rodanthe. Crews will get a better assessment once the water clears.
