Snail on the Thorn
Entropy, Psychokinetics, and Remote Viewing have explicitly been linked in numerous reports and accounts. A detailed explanation can be found in the SAIC reports of this experiment, or in the article "Shannon Entropy: A Possible Intrinsic Target Property" by May, Spottiswoode and James, in the Journal of Parapsychology, December 1994. It was indeed found that there was a correlation between the change in entropy in the target and the remote viewing quality. Investigators report findings that they believe show that the degree of anomalous cognition varies with target entropy and the 'bandwidth' of the target set. Edwin C. May, PhD, was involved in the military intelligence psychic spying program, popularly referred to as Stargate, for over twenty years. During the last decade, he was the director of research for that program. In this context, he produced over a hundred scientific publications. His academic training was in experimental nuclear physics. He is coauthor of ESP Wars: East and West and also Anomalous Cognition: Remote Viewing Research and Theory. He is the coeditor of a two volume anthology titled Extrasensory Perception: Support, Skepticism, and Science. Here he points out that entropy is intimately related to our macro-world perception that the arrow of time moves in only one direction. In the sub-atomic world, and even in the molecular world, it appears as if processes can move equally in either direction of time. Some physicists now believe that entropy is a physical force that can explain gravity. He describes his own research concerning remote viewing targets in which those with a high change of entropy are more readily perceived through clairvoyance or precognition.

I think the AI is just fucking with us when it takes an elegant bound like n(lg n) and improves it by 1/2^182. Like thanks for nothing buddy
oh yeah btw guys we can do integer multiplication faster than n log n lol I was definitely very surprised when this one came in lol github.com/openai/math/tree/…

Down, down, down. Would the fall never come to an end? “I wonder how many miles I’ve fallen by this time?” she said aloud. “I must be getting somewhere near the centre of the earth. Let me see: that would be four thousand miles down, I think—” (for, you see, Alice had learnt several things of this sort in her lessons in the schoolroom, and though this was not a very good opportunity for showing off her knowledge, as there was no one to listen to her, still it was good practice to say it over) “—yes, that’s about the right distance—but then I wonder what Latitude or Longitude I’ve got to?” (Alice had no idea what Latitude was, or Longitude either, but thought they were nice grand words to say.)

"We may look upon an object as fearful, but provided our position is secure against the might of nature this aspect is all the more attractive for its fearfulness. Then we feel the soul-stirring delight of the Sublime"

The imperfections of the Gods of the Greco-Roman pantheon are valuable. We see our own imperfections amplified when Gods argue and fight, act petty or rash, or surrender to passion rather than reason. Importantly, this grounds the Logos in our own capacity for reason & debate.
It's remarkable really that people thought the pagan gods were supposed to be exemplars. They were never intended to be so. Anyone who has tried to keep civilization running or a household running knows that the pagan gods weren't to be emulated. They were describing extreme and for all intents and purposes eternal powers inherent to reality. Ares, for example, was a fighting euphoria, or roughly an adrenal dump. The pagans wished to be possessed by this in battle. Ares was the effects of adrenaline in a way. It doesn't make sense that one would try to emulate an adrenal dump; that's a category error. The Christians demoted these to demons because they were unwilling to be possessed by things they could not control. Enthusiasm [en theos miasm] for example translates into "to be injected by the spirit of a god," in other words, to pray for servitude.

Those conflicts show reason (Logos) as something negotiated, contested, and participated in. Passion (Eros) isn’t excised either This stands in contrast to a more singular, insular “word” from above. Some deontological command (“Because I said so”) to be obeyed without question

Incredible thread. Must read, especially if you’re an architect, musician, or just someone interested in the design of performing arts venues. “These slots under the seats may have been where the resonators were placed”
Vitruvius' architectural guide explains how the Romans used their knowledge of harmonics to fashion bronze resonators, "echeia", to amplify and clear sounds in their theaters: "In theaters, likewise, the bronze vessels—the ones the Greeks call echeia—which are enclosed underneath the seats, are placed according to mathematical principle based on their pitch. The vessels are grouped in sections around the circle of the theater to create intervals of a fourth, a fifth, and so on, up to a double octave. As a result, the voice, as it occurs onstage, should be so located in the theatre’s overall design that when it strikes the echeia it will be amplified on impact, reaching the ears of the spectators as a clearer and more pleasant sound."

Moi, j’objectifie tout le monde équitablement. La réification doit être universelle.
What the hell are you talking about? “Destroying the feminine aesthetic”? No, this is exalting the feminine aesthetic. You are a mentally ill person. We reject your anti-Western aniconism.

For all Kant's shortcomings & sins, his role in the revival of Aesthetics as a topic of philosophical inquiry is still important. I can never dismiss him entirely for that reason. Wittgenstein's aside in the Tractatus "Ethics and aesthetics are one" always felt like it was reaching for this in his own, confused way
Another example of their hidden sympathies, by different starting points Nietzsche & Kant both reached the same conclusion that judgements of beauty are pre-rational, amoral and diminished by subordination a "higher" goals beyond itself.

Kant's 3rd Critique was preceded by Hume, Hutcheson, Cooper, Burke, Baumgarten (contemporary of Kant, friends with him). And of course Aquinas centuries earlier, as well as others. Kant wasn't singular in this. But he does deserve credit for helping restore beauty, taste, artistic judgment, and aesthetic experience as major philosophical problems in their own right

The funniest thing about all you retards in my replies trying to argue with me is that your IQs are so low and your reading comprehension is so poor that you miss the easiest of dunks: that I typo’d “Promethus” in my original post.

This is the typo paradox. If I had spelled it perfectly, fate wouldn't have allowed my post to make it to the great unwashed masses. It probably would have garnered 2-3 likes and been ignored.

If you feel like Atelier Missor's statue of Promethus kinda looks "off" to you, but you can't quite figure out why... First and foremost, it's the proportions.
The statue of Prometheus is finally finished. It was cast in Paris, crossed the Atlantic, and was assembled at Starbase. It took us 100 days to go from nothing to this. People of the West, we have lived through an era devoid of dreams, devoid of destiny. But the time has come to reclaim our dream of antiquity. In a few months, we will start building a new city. It will be the most magnificent city in all of history. After all, the great dream of the West has always been to rebuild Rome. Come walk beside us in this endeavor. The world is waiting.
