Found a great example of multifunctional forestry this morning. Very tidy conifer 2nd or 3rd thinning producing quality log green light and some chip.
200yds up the track, a coppice habitat for dormice with a rope bridge.

It was a really enjoyable day spent at the the APF show yesterday. Caught up with a good number of friends old and new and discussed ideas for possible machinery changes. I was also rather proud to have a machine on display, my Kronos trailer.

I’ve spent the day at the Southill Estate in Bedfordshire with the RFS. What an interesting and thought provoking project. Landscape scale conservation management, reintroductions, beavers and forestry. Many thanks to @ceswsouthpark and the team.

Well, the forwarder has had a bath and tidy up today as it’s off to the APF forestry show at Ragley Hall this week. It will be used as a demonstration machine on the Jas P Wilson stand. I’m going Thursday if anyone else is also there.

I had a diesel delivery this week as I do nearly every other week. Checked the paper work this morning…..1.28 litre! In July it was just over 70p. I’ve never paid as much for red diesel as this. It’s a huge problem but what do you do?

Interesting video from a small workshop in Sweden (it's an IG ad) showcasing the build from start to finish of a grading bucket. The same personnel does the initial cutting and bending of the steel plates, welding and then paintjob. There is still a few shops like this around but centralisation of a few big manufacturers working with assembly line work is way more common today. Back in the day every town and even village had a guy who made whatever you needed for your tractor.

Ash the king of firewood but don't just see this post as that. The resulting transitional habitat changes from thinning are what wildlife in this country needs. Many semi-natural woodlands just sit there begging to be worked.
As ever we are really busy at the moment. Currently carrying out thinning work for the National Trust at Ickworth, Suffolk. A 7ha site removing dead and dying ash trees. The timber will be used in the estate biomass system and also sold as firewood into the local market.

I recently carried out some bank side coppicing operations around a lake owned by a local client. The lake had become over enclosed so I opened it up to provide a mixture of tree growth stages around the site. The fishing looks good to!
Two fishermen had a good day fishing at our lake today. 20lb & 18.5lb plus several good tench. @Aspectforestry
