🧂#Roadsalt supply is already making headlines ahead of winter 2026–2027.
Rising dry-bulk shipping rates, tighter transit capacity and recent municipal tender results are highlighting pressure across the road salt supply chain.

Most mining projects carry a processing plant, a chemistry problem and a tailings facility. Great Atlantic has four verbs: mine, crush, screen, load. 95.9% NaCl reserve grade, crushed and screened underground, two km of conveyor to a deepwater port.

Today, we remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, honor the courage of those who responded, and stand with all those forever impacted.
We will never forget.
2019–2023: the U.S. imported an average of 17.2 Mt of salt a year. 8–10 Mt of de-icing salt crosses into the U.S. and Canada annually from Chile, Mexico, Egypt and the Caribbean.
That's a supply problem, not a demand one.

But for a bulky, freight-sensitive commodity, the biggest market is not automatically the best one. The best market is the one you can serve reliably, repeatedly, and at an attractive delivered cost.
That is the case for the Great Atlantic Salt Project. A high-purity deposit on the west coast of Newfoundland, with direct access to deepwater port infrastructure and dense, winter-exposed end markets on the other side of a short shipping lane.
The demand is already there. The question has always been who supplies it.
