I might have left the Lutherans long ago, but a little Lutheranism still seems to live in my bowels still today

People think this doesn't work, but it do.

I stand by this statement.

The church that Jesus founded did not have Protestant theology.
The church that Jesus founded: •Had no pope •Had no priesthood •Did not pray to Mary •Did not worship relics •Never mentioned purgatory •Did not believe Jesus was a wafer

I’ve been guilty of spending more time learning about Jesus in history than actually spending time with Him today….this is something I’m becoming more intentional about.

True character is revealed under stress and through trials….Anyone can act right when life is easy. Hardship demands a different focus— it’s nearly impossible to manage conflict while still hiding your true intentions.

“Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good… Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” — Romans 12:9, 21 ESV Paul opens and closes this section with the same idea: love what is good and hate what is evil. As Christians, we’re called to do both. However, we cannot let our hatred of evil be the thing that leads us…God wants us to lead with goodness instead. What do you find yourself doing more— hating evil or loving good?

without sin there's no need for atonement. without love, there's no motivation for atonement

Sin explains why the cross was necessary. Love explains why Christ willingly went there. Justice and mercy meet at the cross.

Freedom in Christ doesn’t mean “freedom to do whatever you want.” It’s freedom from the power of sin and death — freedom to live eternally with God.
Called to freedom that looks like loving service, not selfish living Galatians 5:13 (ESV) "For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another."

I realize a few people misunderstood the question… I didn’t mean “Would you personally marry a divorced person?” I meant “Would you, as a pastor/priest, officiate the wedding of a divorced person?” 😅

It was a combination of sin and love that brought Jesus to the cross. Without both, there is no atonement.

Dying to self is true living. Losing your life is finding it. Bound to Christ is true freedom. Death leads to life. This is the Christian paradox.
