Blockchains are getting cheaper to use by the day, thanks to modularity and purpose built infrastructure.
Today, small developer teams can easily build and deploy blockchain solutions using purpose-built components and existing networks. There's no need to set up or maintain a decentralized network—just pay a small transaction fee. This approach mirrors modern web2 development, freeing up time and resources to focus on the main use case.
These efficiencies are being passed through to users in the form of lower transaction fees. The accompanying graph illustrates that the majority of Layer 2 users are now paying under 10 cents per transaction.
Continuous development is driving these costs down further. Validiums and Optimiums are two blockchain architectures that push transaction data to specialized data availability solutions, making blockchain transactions even cheaper.
Additionally, some teams are testing sponsored gas fees, a model that covers transaction costs for users, making their entry process as affordable and seamless as possible.
