We don’t have to all get on the same page about AI today. It’s impossible. But we can strike a shorter term grand bargain and use the once in a lifetime trillions being spent in the next few years to grow and modernize our grid to benefit ALL open.substack.com/pub/avilav…

A quarter century after 9/11, at a time when polarization, geopolitics, and AI are shaking the foundations of our society, it’s comforting to celebrate millenary traditions with our loved ones Wishing everyone a sweet 5787 🍎🍯

Or….. switching to geothermal heat pumps could solve this problem! Here’s to @DigEnergy making it feasible for New Englanders in the not too distant future!

Unlike gas, diesel, and coal, its not backlogged by equipment, subject to geopolitics, nor dirty Unlike fission, fusion, and enhanced geothermal, its ready to deploy today Unlike solar and wind, its 24x7x365 Unlike fuel cells and other onsite solutions, its fully derisked and cheap today And now @DigEnergy has solved the one barrier: the cost and hassle of the upfront installation This first commercial deployment is just the beginning of unlocking ENERGY ABUNDANCE for all LFG! 🚀🚀🚀
Kick-ass execution! Do not have enough words to express the awe, satisfaction and pride in seeing @DigEnergy perfectly deploy its first commercial install. We all know abundant energy underpins our future growth. With Dig's drilling tech, we finally eliminate the bottleneck holding back geothermal, widely acknowledged to be the most efficient way to solve for a FULL THIRD of our electricity needs. NOTHING ELSE is: (a) deployable TODAY, (b) 24x7x365, (c) unaffected by wars, geopolitics, weather events (d) clean, and now, finally (e) cheaper than the rest. canarymedia.com/articles/geo…

It’s no secret that I’m bullish on Florida as a federalist project that’s attracting capital and businesses from across the country. It’s an extraordinary place to live and build. West Palm Beach is the epitome of this kind of growth—and Stephen Ross and team are building a truly dynamic city and ecosystem. It’s been an incredible story of growth in America and we’re excited to become a larger part of it. The American Dynamism team at @a16z is excited to open our West Palm Beach office. It's time to Build 🌴🇺🇸🚀

Have known Josh (solid name!) for a long time. So cool to see what he is doing in Kailua. And to make HVAC look so hot!
Thanks for the feature @WSJ! The team is working very hard to make more Airforms right now here in Kailua, Hawaii. You can check out more here at airform.space. They are now delivering in Hawaii and California.

In the first few minutes of a first founder meeting, investors are eager and hoping *this is the one* Your job is to make us think you and your vision could be it - we can peel the onion carefully after If that’s you please reach out - DMs are open
“Recognize that the attention span of humans is low. The attention span of VCs is probably getting closer to like fruit fly level. So get to the point quickly, and then you can elaborate on the other stuff.” Was excited to chat with @patriciawexler, founder and GP @AvilaVC_ on the latest episode of Fun Raising. I loved this quote from Patty 👆 Founders still spend the first five minutes proving the market is big. If the category is already obviously huge, you’re burning the only minutes you have on a slide they believed before you sat down. Open with the hook only you can say. Then you can do TAM. We also got into: 🔎 When to skip the market-size slide, and when you actually need it 🤝 Why investors are an inch deep and a mile wide, and what that means for what you should expect 📣 How to sequence a raise so your dream firm isn’t the last one in 📉 What a cold email has to do in the first line if you want a meeting 📈 Why the first meeting is not a bank loan, and how that should change how you walk in And so much more. Thanks again for being on, Patty! Full episode live here on X 🎧

Win-win is the way
energy is local. stopping datacenter builds, as NY just did (rather than designing win-win requirements and incentives for local communities and builders) is going to lead to some geos having decrepit infrastructure, and some geos benefiting from grid upgrade, investment and economic revitalization. the state needs to “plan” faster. the last time the bureaucracy said they’d study energy it led to a 30-year abject failure to build any (clean) nuclear capacity. a standard nuclear EIS takes 4 years to even get a decision

Thrilled to share our thinking behind our investment in Superlight.auto - a modern, grounds-up redesign to electric trucks, built in the West, cheaper and better and ready for the electrified, autonomous future when it comes Read here: substack.com/home/post/p-202… cc: @2150VC @engineventures

Finally unveiling this new investment! The $100B+ middle-mile logistics industry is booming, and innovation has lagged long-haul and last mile. Superlight.auto is using a clean-sheet approach that combines electric propulsion, aerospace-inspired design principles and software-centric architecture Their OV-1 truck delivers 50% more cargo capacity while consuming 50% less energy than competing 7.5-tonne trucks. As a result, costs per pallet per km go down by 73%! With 500K miles accumulated across the pond, they will be crossing over to the US soon Excited to support Noamaan and his team alongside @engineventures and @2150VC
We're thrilled to announce our co-lead in Superlight's £15m Series A, alongside @engineventures , with participation from @AvilaVC_ 1/

We can spend our time and $$$ fighting unwinnable short term battles, or we can agree on a doable grand bargain while the datacenter trillions flow: let’s fix American energy to benefit all, and figure the rest out later
26
We can waste our time and money on extreme proposals that will take forever to debate. Or we can seize the one time opportunity to get the data center trillions to bring America’s electric grid into the 21st century benefitting everyone
Bernie Sanders introduced a bill to seize 50% of any AI startup that crosses $200M in revenue. The same anti-prosperity bloc spent the year trying to ban startup acquisitions, blocking the only exit 85% of founders ever get. This is a war on building startups in America.

Just re-read Andy Grove’s High Output Management. A bit outdated but genius. His was the original version of @elonmusk’s Algorithm. And he would have killed it in the AI era because he understood that the secret is truly understanding your business and its process flows to know where to apply technology and how to judge its output to move the needle. My biggest pet peeve with AI is people using LLMs to generate output with no guidance. It elevates the mediocre, but reduces potential excellence to generic slop If you don’t know what you are doing it’s impressive, but if you have deep expertise it’s hard to consume

MUST read book. First 10/10 for my 2026 book list. The Infinity Machine: @demishassabis , @GoogleDeepMind and the Quest for Superintelligence Not only is it a very well written (as obviously @scmallaby would) fulsome story of the most important technology of our time, but it dumbs down the technical pathways being pursued to achieve digital superintelligence in a way that helps laypeople understand what parts of the magic are human-driven, what discoveries were accidental vs purposeful, and informs speculation of where we can head. The discussions on acceleration vs safety and LLMs vs others will be much more interesting for the masses having read this book
