We ought to remind ourselves to consciously add forgiveness to the burden of knowledge we carry.
Being critical can be a gift if directed right.
The better we are at a thing, the more critical we can get about that thing.
You'll look at your past work and be like "ewww, how on earth did I do that?"
One can easily lose the simple delight that should come from the work because you now know better "than to do this".
Unfortunately, maybe you will then not start the thing; or not complete the thing.
But forgiveness can make the weight lighter, perhaps even lend us the energy required to make the thing exist first, and allow ourselves room to make it better after (with that critical eye).
