A Journey Through Time Walking through the hoodoos in Bryce Canyon is a bit of a strange experience; you’d expect them to be quite old but they’re actually only about 200,000 years old. Definitely old for us, but young as far as the planet is concerned. The limestone that composes the hoodoos is significantly older, somewhere around 50-60 million years old but it takes a ton of the time for the freeze/thaw cycle, wind, and rain to erode them into the shapes we see today.
