8 years in orbit with Azerspace-2! 🛰️🌍 Launched on 26 September 2018, Azerspace-2 has been part of Azercosmos’ telecommunications satellite fleet for eight years, supporting reliable satellite connectivity across a wide geographical area. Azerspace-2 provides coverage across Europe, the Middle East, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Central and South Asia, connecting regions and supporting telecommunications services across international markets. Today, we celebrate another milestone in its journey in orbit — 8 years of connecting beyond borders.

Azercosmos engineers have designed and manufactured a Thermal Vacuum Chamber (TVAC) that enables the testing of small satellites and satellite components locally in Azerbaijan. ⚙️ Thermal vacuum systems are an integral part of the satellite and space equipment testing infrastructure of leading space agencies around the world, including the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the European Space Agency (ESA), the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), as well as space companies. 📌 The “AITvac 03” device has successfully passed the required tests and is designed to assess the thermal and vacuum compatibility, reliability, and functionality of small satellites, their subsystems, and various spacecraft components under thermal-vacuum conditions before launch into orbit.

Azercosmos successfully completes its external ISO audit! 🛰️ As part of the audit conducted by Bureau Veritas, no nonconformities were identified against the ISO 9001:2015 and ISO/IEC 27001:2022 standards, and the validity of our existing certificates was confirmed. This result once again demonstrates our commitment to quality management, information security and continuous improvement.

Azerbaijani music has travelled farther than you might think. 🎶 🛰️ In 1977, a recording of Azerbaijani mugham performed on the balaban by renowned musician Kamil Jalilov was selected for NASA’s Golden Record, sent aboard Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 on their journey beyond our Solar System. A new international telecommunications event has kicked off in Baku! 🚀 Following the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC), Azerbaijan is once again hosting an important international telecommunications event. From 14–18 September, Baku is hosting the next meeting of the CEPT Conference Preparatory Group’s Project Team B (CPG PTB), bringing together experts from European telecommunications administrations and relevant organizations. The meeting focuses on preparations for WRC-27, with discussions on space and satellite communications, efficient use of radio-frequency spectrum, and the development of common European positions ahead of the conference. #Azercosmos

Azercosmos at ISRMM 2026 🇦🇿🇷🇴 Azercosmos Vice-Chair Fuad Aslanov delivered a presentation titled “Azercosmos in the Global Space Ecosystem” at the 27th International Symposium on Radio Monitoring and Measurements (ISRMM 2026) in Bucharest, Romania. The event was hosted by Romania’s National Authority for Management and Regulation in Communications (ANCOM). 🛰️ The presentation highlighted Azerbaijan’s growing role in the global space sector, Azercosmos’ expanding international partnerships, and its contribution to a more connected and collaborative global space ecosystem.

The opening ceremony of the 6th World Nomad Games, held in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, was broadcast live via the Azerspace-2 satellite. 🛰️ The event was brought to a wide audience across the region and beyond. #Azercosmos

Following an initiative by the Azercosmos team, the map covering Azerbaijan on the EOSDA platform has been successfully updated. 🌏 During our review of the platform’s basemap, we identified outdated settlement names, particularly across the #Garabagh region. To support the update, our team shared relevant information published through Azerbaijan’s official Open Data Portal, providing an authoritative reference for the country’s official geographical names. Following a detailed review by the EOS product team, the relevant map data was updated. As a result, the official names of settlements including #Khankendi, #Khojavand, #Aghdara, #Sugovushan and others are now accurately reflected on the platform. This update demonstrates how cooperation, authoritative open data and attention to geographical accuracy can improve the quality of information available to users of international digital platforms. We sincerely thank the EOSDA team, for their constructive cooperation, careful consideration of the official data provided and successful implementation of the update.

Accuracy in satellite imagery starts with proper alignment. 🛰️ Imagery acquired by different satellites, on different dates, and from different viewing angles does not always align perfectly. Such discrepancies can directly affect the accuracy of comparison, monitoring, and analysis. Azercosmos’s Co-Registration service aligns different satellite images to a common reference system, ensuring their precise spatial alignment. As a result: 📍 Spatial discrepancies and the margin of error between images are minimized; 📅 More accurate comparison of imagery acquired on different dates is enabled; 🛰️ Images captured from different viewing angles are spatially aligned; 🔎 Change detection and monitoring become more reliable; 🤖 A more accurate and reliable data foundation is created for AI-based analysis. The service can be effectively applied across a wide range of fields—including agriculture, urban planning, environmental monitoring, emergency management, energy, oil and gas, mining, forestry, and infrastructure monitoring — where accurate comparison of imagery from different dates and satellite operators is essential. #Azercosmos

Azercosmos has signed a cooperation agreement with Nextcom Media, marking another step in strengthening its global media partnerships. 📡 As part of the agreement, Giornale Radio is now broadcasting via the Azerspace-1 satellite on the C-band MUX platform. Notably, it is the first Italian channel to be transmitted on this platform, where the majority of channels currently serve African audiences. This collaboration reinforces Azercosmos' commitment to delivering reliable satellite broadcasting solutions while creating new opportunities for content distribution across Africa and beyond.

#Azercosmos participated in the world's largest Geographic Information Systems (GIS) event, the Esri User Conference (EUC 2026). 🌏 As part of the conference, Azercosmos held a series of meetings with Esri experts and international partners. The discussions focused on innovative digital solutions, Earth observation projects, and the evaluation of future collaboration opportunities and commercial prospects with potential partners. Azercosmos also took part in a regional meeting of representatives from Central Asia, the South Caucasus, and Africa.
