Companies are hiring like crazy for Generative AI talent. In this 🧵 I’ll dive into:
- Companies leading the hiring surge (+1 that stands out)
- Technologies/cloud services most mentioned in these jobs
- How much $$$ companies are paying for GenAI talent
- Common use cases
Across the top 2M websites, the ChatGPT Ads pixel is now being added on more new sites each day than $META, LinkedIn, $RDDT and $SNAP combined
The pace has accelerated since the start of Sep. and the # of total sites using ChatGPT Ads is on pace to double vs. a month ago (1/3)
If we assume digital ad budgets are zero-sum, $RDDT may be the most negatively exposed. Nearly 1 in 10 Reddit advertisers in my dataset already use ChatGPT Ads, more than 2x the rate for $AMZN, X or TikTok.
Just 2.5% of $GOOG and 1.4% of $META advertisers are using ChatGPT Ads (2/3)
This isn’t just a natural result of Redit advertiser base being smaller than the others. ChatGPT Ads adoption is simply disproportionately concentrated among $RDDT advertisers.
ChatGPT Ads adopters are 7.3x more likely to also use Reddit Ads than other digital advertisers.
That’s far above $AMZN at 3.2x, X at 3.0x, TikTok at 2.9x, LinkedIn at 2.1x, $GOOG at 1.8x and $META at ~1.0x
$SNOW continues to lose market share, and it's not just Databricks they need to worry about.
While the entire market is growing based on hiring demand, the number of companies mentioning $MSFT Fabric jumped the most at +165%. Databricks grew +40%, while both $SNOW and $GOOG BigQuery increased the least at +15% from a year ago.
$NET continues to be one of the biggest beneficiaries of AI. The # of new Zero Trust instances (CloudFlare Access) in the past 3 months is up 86% YoY as companies are scrambling to protect their AI agents, MCP servers, and applications (Source: Bloomberry)
Meanwhile, the # of websites that are using $NET as a CDN has also surged, as the need to protect their data/content from AI agents and bots keeps rising. The # of new websites using Cloudflare in the past 3 months is up 57% from the same period a year ago
My deep dive article on $AMZN and why it is my biggest position:
1. Value of e-commerce in agentic shopping
2. Disruption of the Ad business
3. Agentic AI lead: MCP server adoption showing a strong lead for AWS vs peers
4. AWS (growth of traditional and AI compute).
5. Importance of Trainium
6. Valuation breakdown and the discount the market is giving

For the 1st time, Anthropic has *more* engineering jobs than OpenAI. The # of engineering jobs in Anthropic has tripled from the same period last yr (~flat for OpenAI). At the same time, OpenAI's engineering mix is shrinking (28% of jobs) while Anthropic's is growing (38%)
OpenAI isn't just losing ground to Gemini - it's losing developers to Claude, and *fast*. Since January, Claude Code installs are up 33% in Visual Studio, while OpenAI Codex is down 10%. Another code red for OpenAI?
$AMZN laid off 30K workers. They claim it's due to AI. But is that the entire story? I dug into every job posting from $AMAZN since 2020, and the % of jobs that were located in off-shored countries almost tripled since 2020 (going from 10% to almost 30%)
AI usage is having its "blow off the top" moment. Let's look at AI coding tools, where the # of daily installs for $MSFT Github Copilot is 4x where it was at this time last year, and 23% higher than just 3 months ago (1/4)
Claude Enterprise (released last last year) is also quickly becoming adopted in the enterprise. The # of new organizations detected using Claude Enterprise is up 128% in the past 3 months vs the prior 3 months, and is accelerating too (3/4)
Lastly, although probably the weakest stat: the number of press releases that mention AI in the headline is more than 2x the volume at this point last year (according to BuzzSumo). Conclusion? The hype around AI is nowhere close to stopping anytime. (4/4)
Federal hiring has virtually stopped. As a government shutdown looms, and Trump threatens mass firings, the total # of job openings on the official US govt website plummeted 87% from ~10,000 to just ~1300 over the past week
Among agencies with more than 100 total job postings, the US Army Reserve Command, Department of Defense Education Activity, and Defense Commissary Agency were the top 3 agencies with the largest % decrease in total job openings
