I post strong opinions on things I learned 17 minutes ago.

“You may not hate Muslims, but I’ll tell you, Muslims definitely hate you.” - Abdul El-Sayed I'm sure Democrats will say that's out of context, but I'd love to see in what context that statement is ok

It is a basic principle of American democracy that the government can’t selectively target individuals simply because of their political beliefs or what they say. But that’s exactly what the Trump Administration is doing to Congresswoman Ilhan Omar of Minnesota. To understand why this is so appalling, it’s important to know the facts. Congresswoman Omar came to this country with her father when she was 12 years old. Five years later, her father became a naturalized citizen. If Ilhan had been 18 at the time, she would have had to apply for citizenship separately. But because she was 17, she became a naturalized citizen automatically. Congresswoman Omar went on to graduate from college, work as a community organizer, become the first Somali-American legislator elected to public office in the U.S., and win a seat in Congress. There, she has been one of the Trump Administration’s fiercest critics, which has led the president to repeatedly single her out as someone who he believes does not belong in this country. Now the Administration is actively trying to deport Congresswoman Omar, seemingly based solely on the unsubstantiated theory that she was actually 18 when her father was naturalized, and therefore is not a citizen. Federal agents have raided her home, confiscated personal records, and seized her phone — all to try and uncover a nonexistent smoking gun from 20 years ago that will somehow make their case. Think about that. The full weight of the federal government is being brought down on a law-abiding elected official because she has dared to criticize the president. And it’s not the first time this has happened. Under President Trump, the Justice Department has repeatedly gone after those he considers his political enemies — from the Attorney General of New York, to the former head of the FBI, to members of the Federal Reserve. In those cases, the prosecutions either stalled or were dismissed for having no basis in law, and the same is likely to happen in this case. But not before Congresswoman Omar’s life has been turned upside down, her legal bills have piled up, and she’s been forced to spend time fighting unsubstantiated charges instead of serving the people of Minnesota. The fact that any president, or any administration, is willing to engage in such transparent efforts to intimidate someone should outrage all Americans, regardless of how they feel about Congresswoman Omar’s political views. Because if this becomes the new normal, there’s no reason to believe it will stop with her — or that future presidents, in either party, won’t do the same.

The hoops this CPS officer makes this father/family jump through because of an anonymous complaint is disgusting. When an unverified, unsubstantiated complaint is all it takes for the state to stick a microscope into a family’s private life, the Fourth Amendment ceases to exist in practice. We are in Springfield, Tennessee, and the video captures an alarming display of government overreach and administrative coercion in broad daylight. After an anonymous referral was filed alleging abuse and neglect, Tennessee Department of Children’s Services (DCS) caseworker Mary Lee didn’t initiate a measured inquiry. Instead, she ambushed the mother and child in their own driveway, aggressively hurling accusations in front of the kid and poisoning any chance of reasonable cooperation from the start. When the father lawfully pushed back, refusing voluntary warrantless entry while taking the responsible step of submitting detailed written statements and faxes to refute the claims, the caseworker weaponized the legal system. DCS went to a juvenile court and secured an administrative “Petition for Authority to Complete Required Investigation Without Consent.” Carefully pay attention to the exchange on the porch. An administrative order compelling an agency to conduct statutory oversight is NOT a Fourth Amendment search warrant. There was zero finding of probable cause. There were zero exigent circumstances proving imminent danger to the children. Yet, flanked by Springfield police officers acting as state-sanctioned muscle, the caseworker presented that petition as blanket authority to force her way across the threshold of a private home. Recognizing that physical resistance against armed officers would only result in immediate arrest, the homeowner stood his ground with incredible discipline: he demanded identification, forced the caseworker to produce the paper on camera, and explicitly stated on record that entry was being made strictly against his consent and in direct violation of his constitutional rights. What followed inside completely obliterated the state’s narrative. The father methodically walked them through the home: fully stocked cupboards, running water, functioning bathrooms, secure rooms, and proper beds for his boys. No hazards. No neglect. Just an ordinary family being subjected to humiliating state surveillance. Having to flush their own toilet and show hot dogs in the fridge to prove they are fit parents is rediculos all for an anonymous complaint. Child protection laws exist to shield endangered kids, not to serve as an administrative backdoor for corrupt caseworkers and overreaching agencies to trample the Bill of Rights over third-party hearsay. Know your rights, demand the paperwork, and keep the cameras rolling.
I never would have thought Jackson had a potty mouth to this level. 😂 Andrew Jackson’s pet parrot had to be removed from his funeral because it wouldn’t stop swearing. President Andrew Jackson owned an African grey parrot named Poll, whom he personally taught to speak. Unfortunately, Jackson's colorful vocabulary rubbed off a little too well. When Jackson passed away in 1845, thousands gathered at The Hermitage in Tennessee for his funeral service. The reverend presiding over the ceremony noted in his memoirs that before the sermon could even conclude, Poll began unleashing an unbroken stream of creative profanity learned from the late president, forcing mourners to physically carry the screaming bird out of the house so the service could finish.
