Scorpion venom is mainly used in medical research and drug development. Its peptides, especially chlorotoxin from deathstalker scorpions, bind selectively to glioma brain tumor cells for surgical imaging (tumor paint) and experimental targeted therapies. It also helps produce antivenom. Other components are studied as potential non-opioid painkillers, antimicrobials against resistant pathogens, and treatments for cancer, neurological, or autoimmune conditions. Most applications remain experimental.
