The NHL has spent years failing to show off player personalities, so it’s frustrating that the moment we get a glimpse of it 1. it's men making misogynistic assumptions about what women and other audiences want 2. it's very invasive toward the players themselves

like no i do not think public rpf is okay but we should also acknowledge that the nhl's current marketing strategy is obviously to encourage parasocialism and lean into "hockey romance" and that's it's deeply unfair to act like everything is just female fans' fault

it's kind of exhausting to see a lot of people putting blame on female fans for that article, that writer was clearly unprofessional and shamelessly misogynistic and yet at the end of the day it's all women's fault again

i’m ngl man it does bother me that celly is a generational talent who is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about hockey and yet so much of what he gets asked about is fanfiction and who did the dishes this week and whether smitty’s baking is good

Spencer Stastney, traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins, is a fast-skating, bottom-pairing defensive defenseman who can move the puck at lower levels. Not enough NHL sample size from Hallander to say too much about him. #LetsGoPens

I think back about this sometimes.
The Seattle Kraken already have one of the largest analytics staff in the NHL ... and they have not even played a game yet. This is how they got there. #SeaKraken theathletic.com/2238159/2020…

It’s shocking that this group of core players were coached to play dump and chase hockey for two full seasons.

I am very surprised that on their California road trip, of all the teams the Panthers didn't drop the gloves with, it was the Anaheim Ducks. #FlyTogether

Kudos to Larkin for a great showing today. He definitely made it clear his request wasn’t about the guys in the locker room or the fans. That said, him going out and performing this well definitely gives the organization more room to drag its feet on moving him.

Looks a little better than any combo from last night, but still don’t understand why they’re so adamant gluing Misa and Toffoli together. #SJSharks
β€œPlayed [there] my whole life, so I’m ready to go.” Will Smith practiced at center today, with Macklin Celebrini out. Here's how the rest of #SJSharks lines looked like: sanjosehockeynow.com/san-jos…

This is funny and ridiculous because a team wanting Larkin is probably trying to win now and would be willing to give up futures. In contrast, a team wanting Edvinsson is probably younger and more likely to give up older players blocking slots for their young guys.
Frank Seravalli: The Red Wings seem open, or more open with Simon Edvinsson than the Dylan Larkin trade, to take back potentially futures, prospects, draft picks, maybe even roster players; whereas with Larkin it was like...we basically want another Larkin - Oilers Now (10/5)

As the season is underway and we start to see overreactions to small samples, I decided to look into when you can start to trust team results based on when they begin to stabilize:

I am more surprised about Robertson clearing than Zary, but surprised nevertheless.
