While Freedom and Liberty are traveling the US to educate our community and promote placement of wild horses and burros, the BLM Wild Horse & Burro team is hard at work behind the scenes working to develop thoughtful, collaborative partnerships that benefit the animals we’re tasked with caring for. One of those partnerships is with Branded Equine Services, through their "Operation Branded" program. Their organization provides an 8-week program where veterans, active-duty military, and first responders are each paired with a wild mustang to gentle them, with an option to keep the horse when it’s gentled.

Exciting Update! 🌟
We truly appreciate your patience as we navigated the recent challenges with the Online Corral. We’re thrilled to announce that the Online Corral is back up and running! 🎉 Bidding for our September event kicks off tomorrow at 4 PM MT and will close on Monday, September 28 at 4 PM MT. Be sure to submit your proxy bids throughout the event to ensure your high bid is captured accurately!
Refunds for payments from the previous event are in process, and you can expect to see those within the next 7–10 days as we wrap up our fiscal year.
Our IT team has been hard at work enhancing the system with improved monitoring and technology to ensure a smoother experience. While we’ve made significant upgrades, we want to be transparent that some performance issues may still arise.
We know you’re eager to get started, and it’s crucial for us to keep things moving so these wonderful animals can reach their new homes! 🐴❤️

Update from the Road! Freedom and Liberty, the BLM WHB Program 250th Ambassador Team continue their journey across the nation to celebrate America's 250th Anniversary. This time, they stopped in Colorado and Nebraska to walk in their State Fair Parades! What a joy to partake in the festivities and showcase these incredible animals.

Little known fact: BLM wild horses can be seen at work in a variety of agencies across the US, including with the BLM Law Enforcement Mounted Patrol Units! We know there have been a lot of questions following the issues with the Online Corral's performance and outage, and we completely understand the concern—especially for those who have not yet submitted payment.
We are still working through the system crash and researching exactly what happened and how it may have affected this event and future events. We do not have enough information at this moment to know whether we can rerun the event or proceed with the results we currently have.
For now, the Online Corral site will remain offline, so payments cannot be submitted through the system. We cannot accept payments through an alternative method or location at this time. We want to make sure we have a clear understanding of what happens next before collecting any payments.
We appreciate your patience while we take the time to get this right. We know everyone is eager for an answer (we are too), and we’ll provide another update as soon as we have more information and can let you know the next steps.

Halter trained yearling horses will be available at the Kansas State Fair, Sunday September 20th! The horses are part of the Wild Horse Youth Challenge, where youth gentle, train and compete with the wild horses at the fair, Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20.
These yearlings will be available for adoption through competitive bid at the Kansas State Fair on Sept 20th, at the conclusion of awards, not before 2:30pm. Applications to adopt approved on site.

We share a common goal with every organization and individual who cares about wild horses and burros: keeping these animals safe and out of harm’s way. The BLM strengthens its adoption and sale requirements regularly, but no system is perfect. When someone violates federal law or misuses the program, we take that seriously, and we rely on the public to help us stop it.
If advocates , or anyone else, has credible information that a buyer may be violating the terms of sale or putting animals at risk, we ask that they report it right away rather than holding it for future stories or social media content. Timely reporting allows law enforcement to intervene before an animal is harmed and before a violation grows into a larger pattern of abuse. When these cases are reported, we bring the full force of our law enforcement partners to investigate and, when warranted, refer them to the Department of Justice for prosecution.
We recognize that speaking up quickly may feel complicated, especially for groups whose work relies on public communication and fundraising. But protecting the horses is the priority we all share, and early reporting is one of the most direct ways to prevent bad actors from exploiting the program or funneling animals into illegal channels.
