Remember who you are
John Mateer: “I woke up in the middle of the night and something told me, ‘forgive yourself.’ Real powerful stuff.”

Can’t believe Venables hired this guy Zac Alley to be OU’s DC… Worst eye for coaching talent in the country lol

Watching Cincinnati and West Virginia games reminds me of the old mid-2010’s Big 12

It's a slow burn but you see signs. -Empty stadiums for ranked teams & decent matchups -Ratings peaking for a couple big games but overall viewership is down 11% this September Fan sentiment is souring & signs of impact are there. "Gradually, then suddenly" -Ernest Hemingway
“They’re going to prostitute college football out for every penny until nobody cares anymore” Best summary I’ve heard.

I would like to see someone else get the chance to make catastrophic errors at this point.
I asked Ben Arbuckle why OU has stuck with Mateer as the starting quarterback: "We believe John Mateer gives us the best chance to win... We have to eliminate the catastrophic errors... Ultimately, it falls back on me." #Sooners

If BV really loves OU he goes to the program and says “let’s win. Find a head coach that’ll keep me as DC. Rework my buyout into my DC contract.” Until then, we’re a team with a DC running the whole show. We don’t have a head coach.

BV’s only successful OC (Lebby) ran an offense that gave BV fits for years. So following this philosophy only, which playcaller’s own BV? Collin Klein (0-1) 2022 41 points Garrett Riley (0-1) 2022 55 points Jeff Grimes (0-1) 2022 38 points Zach Kittley (0-1) 2022 51 points Andy Kotelnicki (1-1) 2022 42 points 2023 38 points Kendal Briles (1-0) 2023 45 points Brennan Carroll (0-1) 2023 38 points Charlie Weis Jr (0-2) 2024 26 points 2025 34 points Joe Sloan (0-2) 2024 37 points 2026 14 points Ryan Grubb (1-1) 2025 21 points 2025 27 points

Brent Venables has not had a viable backup QB one time in 5 years. It’s a serious problem that you don’t have someone with a pulse that can at least give you a look. Especially when the QB is actively losing you games…

BV benched JA forc a true freshman after multiple turnovers in a game. He benched Hawk for a struggling JA after multiple turnovers in a game. Mateer has 2 plus turnovers in 4-6 games this year and he is still QB 1. This is BS!

And OU coaches acted like he was a lost cause. Picked Jackson Arnold over him and paid John Mateer $3m AND played him with a broken hand over Hawk 🤣🤣🤣 Literal worst coach in OU history
Hawkins should at least be in the Heisman conversation.

If I’m OU I give GJ Kinne a call in the offseason. Get him to bring his QB Brad Jackson and whatever RBs he can. His scheme is great and he is a pound the rock HC that would take a big time OC gig. Let him put in an O line that MOVES people. Averaging 300+ on the ground

Okay okay here’s my plan to fix OU football without firing Brent Venables… Experienced OC, preferably with HC experience. Let them find new emerging OL, QB, and WR coaches. Spend whatever else we’re saving on the buyout to buy an offense.

For the OC position I’d look at From college ranks Chip Kelly Gj Kinne Sean Lewis Bobby Petrino From NFL (assuming they get fired or would even come to college) Kliff Kingsbury Zac Robinson Tommy Rees Kellen Moore

For the roster, instead of going for the 5 star or top portal QB again I say we get 2 QB’s. No more unbenchable players. A P4-contender backup and a productive G6 or FCS guy that has to battle it out in camp with Whitt & Bentley. May the best man be QB1. AND you have playable backups Use the extra QB money on a real oline and watch our WRs and RBs turn back into stars.

Sorry, big programs like Alabama, Ohio St, would fire the fuck out of their HC if they were in Oklahoma position but Oklahoma won’t do that, they’ll just let it ride.

3 out of 4 of BV’s coordinator hires have been complete ass. So much so he had to replace one with himself. Why do we think a 5th one will work?

They gave away Baylor, WVU, and Texas Tech, then they gave away the bowl game. I knew all the way back then that BV wasn’t going to be the guy.
