Freeholders & their Managing agents just keep charging more & more & more and there seems to be no way for leaseholders to get a grip on the spending 😡

Outrageous @andyburnham @UKLabour @Conservatives @LibDems when are we going to get fair open competition in this industry to stop us being ripped off?

we pay a Minor Commissioning Fee on every repair for tech, supervisory and administrative costs. As far as I can see the only administration needed is every five years when the contract is tendered. Certainly no supervision and no incentive to do a proper job at 1st visit

End the leasehold system for ALL flats, including existing. Managing agents are out of control in London. Flats are unsellable because of service charges. You have made very clear promises, if you go back on this it will be like the tuition fees for LibDems in the 2015 election

Are leaseholders being scammed by the darks arts of block management? thisismoney.co.uk/money/mort… No surprises here. The costs are so well hidden in bulk charges it's impossible to tell what's been incurred for your property. Plus miscellaneous management/admin/professional fees...

Clarion said there were “no service failures”. Weeks later, it acknowledged “several failures”. Then the focus increasingly shifted towards the resident: her language, contact and behaviour. DARVO in Action - What It Looks and Feels Like. housingsector.co.uk/blog/dar…

The Guardian is spot on here: Labour must deliver on it’s promise to free leasehold flat occupants from the legal ability of freeholders and their managing agents to demand charges. Only those who pay the fees should be able to hire - and fire - managing agents.
Now THIS is what you call a leader article!

❌ @mtpennycook @AngelaRayner, why are housing associations that are so obviously failing their residents being awarded government grants?

Danny, I am a shared owner. It is still not legally possible to do RTM in my block. There are thousands of muti-tenure blocks like mine. What are Labour backbenchers doing to change that? Is this even on your radar? Where has it been discussed?

Not a good look for the Labour government when even The Guardian is calling out the smoke and mirrors behind its managing agents regulator announcement.
