בעיניי, הבחירות האלו הן בחירה בין נוחות לאחריות.
הנוחות מבטיחה לנו קסם. היא אומרת: הכול נורא וחסר תקווה, וזה ב'גללם'. נחליף 'אותם', נחרים 'אותם', נסגור 'להם'. מיד יהיה לנו טוב. נחתום הסכמים, נפנה שטחים, נוותר קצת, והעולם כולו יחזור לחבק אותנו. גם אם נשיא ארה"ב לא איתנו, זה לא נורא. קצת נצטמצם, קצת נתכווץ, אבל יהיה לנו שקט, יהיה לנו נוח. לא צריך לשלם מחיר, לא צריך להתאמץ, רק להחליף את מי שבשלטון.
האחריות לא מבטיחה קסם. היא אומרת את האמת: קשה. עברנו שנים משמעותיות ושילמנו מחירים נוראיים. אבל צלחנו אותן ביחד, והגענו להישגים כבירים כנגד כל הסיכויים. נפתח לנו אופק חדש. נשיא ארה"ב מושיט לנו יד, ומדינות באזור משנות כיוון. אחריות פירושה לא לעצור באמצע הדרך, להמשיך גם כשזה מתיש, ולא להמר על הביטחון של הילדים שלנו בשביל הקלה זמנית. אם נחזיק מעמד עוד קצת ונגיע יחד עד הסוף, נוכל לכתוב לילדים שלנו עתיד שלא תלוי על בלימה. ואם לא נגיע יחד לסוף, זה יהיה הסוף שלנו ביחד.
ובצד של הנוחות אין באמת הצעה על השולחן, רק מילה אחת: "שינוי". איזה שינוי?
מדינה עם גבולות אחרים? ממשלה עם שותפים שאומרים לנו בפנים "פלסטין זה כאן"? עוד ניסוי על הגב של כולנו כמו אוסלו, שהתפוצץ לנו בפנים?
ודווקא עכשיו, כשהעולם כולו בוער?
אני לא שונא אף אחד. אבל אני חושש, ואני כבר לא מאמין לשום נייר, הסכם או הבטחה. האמונה הזו נגמרה בשביעי באוקטובר ולא תחזור. אני רוצה להרגיש בטוח. אני רוצה את מה שנולדתי לתוכו, מדינה יהודית, ולא ניסוי חדש של המתוחכם התורן.
אני יודע מי אני ומה נדרש ממני כאדם בוגר, כהורה, כיהודי וכישראלי בארץ הזו.
זה לא מושלם. יש עוד הרבה מה לברר על מה שקרה, יש את סוגיית החרדים ועוד הרבה דברים. אבל מעל הכול, אני מאמין שיחד עם טראמפ, ביבי הוא האדם הנכון, במקום הנכון ובזמן הנכון, כדי לסיים את המלחמה הזו ולהוביל את ישראל לעתיד בטוח יותר.
אז מבחינתי זה פשוט. לא לנוחות של הבטחות קסם. כן לאחריות, לכוח ולעוצמה״.

Although Laurent isn't Jewish, he’s a staunch Zionist and supporter of Israel. Because he’s not stupid, as you may have gleaned from the fact that he has two PhDs at age 16. Laurent wants to invent, innovate, and make the world a better place. And few countries are more dynamic and technologically advanced than Israel.
Meanwhile, our Belgian universities are boycotting @BarIlanU, which will host Laurent Simon, because some of their archeologists did some excavatations in the West Bank (I'm not making this up, check @UGent's report).

Despite fighting multiple wars of necessity, constant terrorist threats and huge internal divisions, Israel’s 🇮🇱 economy is growing so fast that it is set to overtake the Netherlands 🇳🇱 within 18 months, in GDP per capita.
Israelis are more innovative, their civil society is stronger, they have a stronger sense of national identity, and they have a real demographic future, because they still actually procreate (all European nations are below replacement level).
By many measures, even Muslim citizens are better integrated in Israel proper (not the West Bank) than in the Netherlands.
Yes, Israeli democracy is under threat, and the growing ultra-orthodox population poses serious porblems, but we'll see what the next election will bring (hopefully the end of the Netanyahu era).
Meanwhile, the Dutch government bans Israeli goods from the West Bank, universities have cut ties with Israeli partners, and the “progressive” @progressiefned backs further sanctions and an end to all military support, even for purely defensive purposes. Because who cares if Jews die under rockets attacks?
The Netherlands needs Israel more than the other way around.
