Looking down my nose at you since 1685.

I uploaded all my music to Spotify and get over 6M monthly streams... so how come I'm still dead Baroque? I'm here all week folks -- try the veal.

While I was learning Chinese, we used to love the Confucius Institute because they'd give us free text books so we didn't have to buy them from the university. I remember in my city, the Confucius Institute had native Chinese speaking volunteers who could help with our study, and practice chatting and so on. When it was time for Chinese exams, which are super difficult for native English speakers, they'd do their best to help us go over our class material etc. Absolutely invaluable. Sometimes we could also take classes making dumplings and traditional fans and other arts. It was fun because you could learn new Chinese words and phrases at the same time. And I can tell you this: never once was politics brought up, let alone anything else apart from our study. Seeing that the US has classified Confucius Institutes as a national security risk literally made me laugh out loud. Honestly, what is up with the US and why are they adament on accelerating their own descent so freaking quickly? We've always known that the West, especially the US-led West, was declining, but I could never have guessed it would happen this fast, and it would be completely and utterly at their own hand. The US is scared of shadows, and it's freaking hilarious. 🤣
The War Department has designated Confucius Institutes as a threat to our national security.

I just found myself reading LinkedIn for about a half an hour and now I feel like I need a shower. What a cesspool of inauthenticity, idiocy, and plastic people. Capitalism and AI have rotted their brains.

Can't really believe that I am retweeting MTG... but here we are.
On Lindsey Graham. Stay with me on this. The worst kept secret in Washington DC came out today because 3 brave men came out and told the truth and it doesn’t matter if it is after he’s dead. Brave? Yes brave. Why are they brave? They had to go on camera and tell intimate details of their personal lives. To the world. That is extremely difficult to do. Yes it’s brave. And Stressful. They walked into the public square opening themselves to the opinions of the entire world. No matter your opinion on the issue, they took a courageous leap in coming forward. If you are critical, would you go on camera and tell your secrets to the entire world? I would bet a lot of money you wouldn’t. Ok but there is more to this. Because this is the world I saw up close in Washington. I saw behind the curtain and saw ALL the wizards. Everyone in the highest levels of power in Washington DC are keeping secrets that would destroy their entire lives. And that’s exactly why they have power. Not because they are so smart or qualified or the best choice for leadership. I mean really, if you think our best and brightest are in charge then do some critical thinking and look at the pathetic state of our debt, our dollar, and how our government is run, and the outcome that affects your life. Their secrets are the only reason these people rise to the top. Because their secrets are not secrets. We all knew Lindsey Graham was gay. Everyone did. Their secrets are levers of control. Keeps them in line. Makes them a team player. And will make them fight the hardest on issues that don’t make sense in order to keep their secrets just that. Secrets. So everyone is arguing about how this is old news, why now? Or arguing about being gay, and gay issues. Or arguing because that’s what everyone does on the internet, just argue with each other and with bots about issues they don’t have the real truth on, but throw out their strongest opinion anyways. I’m here to tell you the granular issue you need to dial in on and block out the rest of the noise. Three gay men just bravely pulled back the curtain and tried to teach you all the most important lesson America needs to learn. It’s this. America’s most powerful leaders keep secrets that comprise them in the most dangerous ways for the security, safety, and prosperity of our nation. That’s the whole point. I tried my hardest to fight the entire system on both sides of the aisle and couldn’t beat it because YOU ALL keep voting these people back into office and back into power. By the way, I always cosponsored the Term Limit bill and no matter who is in charge, Pelosi, McCarthy, or Johnson, Dem or Rep, that bill never ever got even close to getting a vote on the House floor. So the question for you, The American People, is are you able to learn the lesson and if so, what exactly are YOU going to do about it? Ask yourself, what are you voting for? Donating to? Volunteering for? And are you really satisfied with the outcome election cycle after election cycle?

There is no freedom to analyze events and come to conclusions outside of the official narrative even in academia. This is a death sentence for independent thought.
The very public execution of my professorship and reputation continues in Norway. Today’s media article about me makes three claims that are misleading and/or false. 1) The article dismisses my claim that my research is being criminalized as the journalists merely cite the dismissive comments from the university - no arguments are apparently required. It is not possible for an academic anymore to analyse the policies of rival powers by assessing their security concerns, as it will be smeared by the government, the government’s NGOs and the media as “legitimizing” the enemy and supporting their narratives. The current Defence Minister singled me out with the accusation of spreading propaganda and criticised two podcasters for even speaking with me (as I have already been cancelled by the media in Norway). How was this accusation by the Defence Minister substantiated? I had argued that NATO expansion triggered the war in Ukraine, which the Defence Minister denounce as dangerous “Russian propaganda”, with no need to substantiate his vile accusation. I can cite a sea of evidence and also refer to statements by American and European political leaders, ambassadors, intelligence chiefs, and others to make my case. However, the purpose is not to engage in debate, but to smear, censor, and cancel. By going after an individual academic for challenging official truths, the government has already claimed a monopoly on the truth. Academics should have their arguments scrutinised and criticised, but these are severe personal attacks from the government without the possibility of even defending myself. How is this not criminalising the research of an academic? I cannot even speak at any events in Norway without the event being cancelled. The last event I agreed to speak at was because I shared the stage with the former CIA officer John Kiriakou. A newspaper had the event at a church cancelled, and when the backup location did not also cancel, the journalist simply printed in the paper that it had been cancelled so people would not show up. Is this normal? I must use my allotted holiday days to attend conferences because any event I attend can be presented as “controversial,” and then the NGOs and journalists will go after the reputation of the university. Is this normal? Every newspaper article about me merely refers to me as “controversial” or “pro-Russian” without ever assigning meaning to these labels or presenting my argument. I have argued, much like former CIA director Burns, that if the West attempts to pull Ukraine into the NATO orbit, then there would be war and Ukraine would be destroyed. This is considered a “pro-Russian” argument. Arguing that we should respect the will of most Ukrainians who want negotiations to end the war is also considered a “pro-Russian” argument, while in contrast, boycotting diplomacy, deporting Ukrainian refugees, and calling for the conscription of Ukrainian women is “pro-Ukrainian”. 2) To avoid addressing any of my arguments, the journalists go on to uncritically cite personal attacks against me, pointing out that I have been called a propagandist by the Norwegian Helsinki Committee. This is a “non-governmental organisation” financed by the government and the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), which was set up by Reagan and the CIA director in 1983 to manipulate the civil society of other states. The Norwegian Helsinki Committee has been relentless in its smears on social media to have me fired, writing hit pieces in the media, pushing to cancel my speaking events, writing a letter to my university, and even posting a picture of my house on social media. This is a governmental "human rights organisation" that cites human rights concerns to build the case for war. 3) Lastly, to further avoid addressing my actual arguments, they simply cite the fact that arguments I made at a debate last year have been “wholly or partially debunked” by a fact-check. The state-run media (NRK) invited the state-run military defence institute (FFI) to fact-check three of my claims. What claims did they "debunk"? My first claim was that only 20% of Ukrainians wanted NATO membership between 1991 and the regime change in February 2014. The fact-checker argued that the number went up by the middle of 2014 (after Russia responded by seizing Crimea), which is a completely meaningless comment intended to muddy the waters, as my argument was about the previous era. My second claim was that Zelensky had argued in an interview with The Economist in March 2022 that there were some Western countries that would like a long war with Russia to weaken a strategic rival, even if it would result in the destruction of Ukraine. The fact-checker argued that not all Western countries wanted a long war and that it was not an official policy. I never claimed it was an official policy, as it was primarily the US and UK pushing for a long war. My third claim was that the US and UK sabotaged the Istanbul peace agreement in April 2022. The fact-checker claimed this was incorrect and suggested that it could only be based on one statement by David Arakhamia. The fact-checker did not want to mention that both mediators also confirmed it: Turkey’s foreign minister and the former Israeli prime minister both said that Russia and Ukraine were close to a deal, but the US and UK saw an opportunity to weaken Russia by fighting with Ukrainians. Zelensky’s former adviser Arestovych confirmed it, and the Ukrainian ambassador Chaly, who participated in the negotiations, confirmed that Putin was willing to do almost anything to end the war. The former head of the German armed forces confirmed that Boris Johnson sabotaged it, and Boris Johnson himself wrote articles warning about a “bad peace” and arguing for “strategic patience.” I am being fact-checked by war propagandists. Unfortunately, none of my arguments matter because in Norway there is no debate and no interest in any arguments. Reality means nothing anymore as war narratives must be defended against inconvenient truths. I used to be naïve and think that the endless smears were caused by misunderstanding, as I had simply not been able to convey my arguments properly. However, the endless articles with smears and labels are deliberate lies and deceptions.

I took action this morning as part of a group of 🇨🇦 citizens to stop the sale of 🇮🇱 settlement properties in Canada. On behalf of myself and five other complainants, primarily from Palestinian and Jewish communities, Global Echo Litigation Center and Canadian Lawyers for International Human Rights (CLAIHR) have filed a complaint with Canada’s Competition Bureau challenging the deceptive marketing of illegal Israeli settlement real estate to Canadian consumers. You can learn more and get updates on this case as it progresses at: globalecho.law/settlement-re… This is the first known legal action to use competition law to challenge the marketing of Israeli settlement real estate anywhere in the world. I am grateful we have the ability to do something about this in Canada. Because of the strong ethical standards in Canadian law, we are able to bring our concerns to the Competition Bureau and demand an inquiry into the actions of the five companies named in our complaint. We are asking the Competition Bureau to look at their actions and determine whether they are representative of a widespread pattern of deceptive marketing of illegal Israeli settlement real estate in Canada. Now that we’ve filed our complaint, it’s the Competition Bureau’s responsibility to uphold the standards of Canadian law. If the allegations in our complaint are substantiated, then the Competition Bureau needs to take action to protect Canadian consumers and the ethical standards of our marketplace, or risk losing Canadians’ trust. No company should be allowed to deceive Canadians into breaking the law and violating Palestinians’ rights — or anyone’s rights. Advertising illegal settlement properties in the West Bank as “Israeli” conceals their true location in occupied Palestinian territory and deprives consumers of material information necessary to make informed purchasing decisions. If the concerns raised in our complaint are not addressed, then Canadian consumers are not only at risk of continuing to be misled about the ethical implications of purchasing Israeli settlement property, but also the potential legal consequences they could face under Canadian and international law. I am grateful to be able to do what I can as a Canadian citizen to challenge the sale of Israeli settlements on occupied Palestinian land. I hope you’ll support me by sharing this news and future updates as the case progresses. 🙏

Lindsay Graham was a monster, and aside from you, one of the greatest causes of the catastrophe you are currently snorting your way through.
Sanctions relief will continue. I think the diesel deal and the move regarding the Lindsey Graham Act are not the end of it. Unfortunately. It’s unfortunate because we all had great respect for Lindsey. He devoted his life to America. We had an excellent relationship with him. And shortly before the tragedy, Lindsey was in Ukraine. He always supported us very strongly and pushed for as much assistance to Ukraine as possible. It’s difficult without him, I’ll be honest. I want to thank both Democrats and Republicans who supported his bill. That was a major victory: this truly bipartisan support. And now, the decision to undo all of this, to block all of it, seems wrong to me. And it definitely helps only the Russians. It only fuels their satisfaction and their desire to keep killing people. This certainly does not stop the war. From answers to journalists’ questions. (1/3)

I believe it was Obama that set the precedent for Trump's lawlessness. After the 2008 financial crisis, did he prosecute the people responsible for destroying the global economy? Nope, he bailed them out while they gave themselves bonuses and then foreclosed on 7.8M Americans 1/2

Obama literally said "We need to look forward as opposed to looking backwards" when it came to prosecuting the blatant war criminals in the Bush administration. The impunity with which the elite exited the Bush era disaffected voters & set the stage for Trump & his lawlessness.

This is of course not to absolve Trump, who has been a criminal his entire life, but it gave license for the ludicrous excesses of his second term, and his complete disdain for the rule of law as President.

It's beyond hilarious the number of posts about "random thing I am opposed to" has now disappeared after Ukraine bombed a data centre in Russia—because all the bots are gone. It's quite obvious this is complete bullshit, yet here we are, and people are lapping up this nonsense.

Techno-utopianism is the naive belief that technological innovation is going to create a paradise on earth for all of humanity. In the age of AI this notion has been enjoying a bit of a resurgence. Techno-utopianism is an infantile worldview to hold in the year 2026, because it is assumes we live in some kind of children’s cartoon show with wild-haired inventors in laboratories lined with beakers and microscopes who create helpful new machines which are then either purchased by consumers on the free market or implemented by the government to make the country a nicer place to live in. In reality, we live under a globe-spanning empire run by plutocrats and secretive government agencies who manipulate our entire society to ensure that all outcomes expand their wealth and power. They’re not interested in making the world a better place. The most powerful among them are not even simply interested in money. They are interested in dominating the planet and maintaining the political status quo which allows them to rule. The plot hole in techno-utopianism is that technologies don’t emerge in a vacuum: they are always controlled by somebody, and those somebodies always wind up being the people who control everything else. They’ve been doing it with the internet, they’re doing it with AI, and they’ll keep doing it with anything else that comes up for as long as they hold power. If anything like free energy ever emerged, the empire managers would immediately restrict access to it and then start working on turning it into a weapon. If we ever developed neurological implants which allowed our brains to interface wordlessly with machines, the CIA and the NSA would with absolute certainty have a backdoor into every single one operating inside the western empire. Anything that could end poverty and lack would be suppressed, because capitalism doesn’t work without scarcity and have-nots. Artificial superintelligence would be used solely to preserve and bolster the imperial status quo. Nanobots and anti-gravity would be immediately weaponized by the Pentagon. Dramatic lifespan extension would be priced to accessibility only by billionaires and trillionaires. And that’s assuming our capitalist system is still capable of producing major improvements to human life anymore, which doesn’t really seem to be the case. These days most “innovation” takes the form of coming up with an app designed to extract labor from the working class in some new form of exploitation, or these new AI technologies that we all know are going to end up being used for domestic surveillance and horrifying weapons of mass military slaughter. Apart from that, innovation has largely stagnated, because it turns out that only permitting inventions which both (A) generate profit and (B) do not threaten existing power structures is an incredibly constricting limitation to hamstring ourselves with. So we’re not going to innovate our way out of this mess. The technological deus ex machina solution to all our problems is not going to arrive at our doorstep while we sit on our couches scrolling Instagram. If we are to survive the existential hurdles our species is approaching and begin building a healthy world, we’re going to have to actually change how we are and how we live. That’s what I find so off-putting about techno-utopianism: it’s a faith-based belief system which discourages humanity from changing. We don’t need to push toward revolution; the robots are coming to save us. We don’t need to change our collective behavior and stop destroying our ecosystem; the superintelligent AI gods will change the world around us. We don’t need to adapt as a species beyond this awkward evolutionary transition phase and shatter the bonds of the ego; all we need to do is passively wait around for High Tech Jesus to come and rapture us all to paradise. It ain’t gonna happen, kids. The metallic messiah’s not coming. If we survive as a species, it will be because we grew up and made the necessary changes to our hearts and our minds to transcend our self-destructive patterning.
