Containment and recovery efforts continue along the Long Quarter Branch tributary. Crews have walked accessible portions of Long Quarter Branch and are checking areas where fuel may have collected. They are also inspecting underground storm drainage lines with a camera. Containment and sorbent booms are in place at several locations, and crews continue to recover fuel. Baltimore County is responding to a diesel fuel leak from a backup generator at the Baltimore County Detention Center. The leak was discovered late Saturday and has been stopped. Residents near local streams may notice a diesel odor. Baltimore County is working alongside Baltimore City, the Maryland Department of the Environment, the United States Coast Guard, and additional resource partners to clean up the spill and assess nearby waterways, including the area near Loch Raven Reservoir. There is no impact to drinking water. We will continue to keep residents updated as we receive more information.

This morning, we paid tribute to the 424 first responders, firefighters, and police officers who gave their lives on September 11, 2001. As people were trying to escape the smoke and damage, these brave men and women rushed towards the fire. Their selfless and courageous actions saved lives. We can never forget them or their sacrifice.

Today we remember the 2,977 lives we lost on September 11, 2001. Across the nation, first responders heard the call for action—including ten of our brave @BaltCoFire firefighters who responded to Ground Zero. We will never forget.

Today, we're announcing legislation to prohibit for-profit house parties in residential neighborhoods. We want people to enjoy their homes and have fun with family and friends, but residential properties cannot become commercial party venues.

What we're stopping are commercial parties where homes are being advertised as venues, tickets are sold, and large crowds cause disruptions in communities. Northwest Regional Park is a community gem full of places to get active, make connections, and enjoy the outdoors (like the beloved Ravens-themed playground).
