BSP continues support for health and humanitarian institutions The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) continued its longstanding support for institutions providing essential healthcare and humanitarian services to Filipinos. It donated a total of P40 million to four institutions. The Lung Center of the Philippines, National Kidney and Transplant Institute, Philippine General Hospital, and Philippine Red Cross each received P10 million. The donations were turned over during a ceremony held at the BSP Head Office on 22 September 2026. BSP Governor Eli M. Remolona, Jr. and Deputy Governor Elmore O. Capule led the turnover to representatives of the four institutions. For more than a decade, the BSP has supported institutions providing medical and humanitarian services to underserved Filipinos. The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) celebrates Gabriel Formoso (1915-1996), newly proclaimed National Artist Award for Architecture under Presidential Proclamation No. 1414. One of the first 100 licensed architects in the Philippines, Formoso embraced modernist principles of functionality, simplicity, and efficiency throughout his four-decade career. Among his most significant legacies is the BSP Complex in Manila, whose Brutalist design is characterized by rectilinear massing, horizontality, decorative restraint, and an honest expression of materials. The complex’s block-patterned walls complement the masonry of the historic Fort San Antonio Abad, bringing together history and modernity within the landscape.
