Arsenal fan living in Newcastle - I basically tweet about football when I can be bothered.

United Kingdom
I would genuinely like to watch a whole game with this camera setup. Now I’d struggle if it were Arsenal but this from home is as good as you’ll get to seeing the game at the real pace but also you don’t know what’s coming next, what pass is on, everything play is a surprise.
THE angle just dropped 🔥

I hate to be that guy. But is anyone looking into how Manchester City women’s team have been financed over the years? They have the same chairman/owner after it was announced in 2012 they would officially be run by the club under the same agreement. They’ve been a force since.

Anyone with a bit of cash fancy taking on a football club? Home games at an international class sports stadium, access to state of the art training facilities, passionate core fanbase and what’s more, you don’t need to deal with Lee Cattermole as manager anymore. #HeedArmy

I think the Red Cartel is a myth used by underachieving club supporters. Liverpool didn't win a league for 30 years. United similar Arsenal 22 and never won a European Champions Cup Chelsea were a run down shitheap run by a man putting barbed wire up. City were a club you just had to beat to get where you needed to go. Villa finished second in the early Prem and never capitalised despite always been run prudently Newcastle won nothing for 70 years with plenty of fans and Prem money. Leeds spent half of their existence outside of the top flight Yes, there are romantic and historic reasons why Liverpool, United and Arsenal "caught fire" and imaginations of huge numbers. It's why people buy iphones, Ferraris, want to live in London, New York or Paris. Some things transcend the normal. The 3 big clubs aren't all wine and roses either. Glazers are a cancer on the club, FSG and LFC fans butt heads often, likewise Kroenkes. But to suggest they have some golden key to unlock corrupt practice over 5 decades on their favour, there just isn't the evidence for it. Do I believe every club should start a season having a capable squad which I'm theory could win the league? Yes. Do I think the current financial rules punish some clubs because of the corruption of others? Yes. Do I think every club should spend whatever they like? No, because of the shitshow we're seeing today. City and Chelsea when I was a kid were second division also rans and a Steve Mackenzie thunderbastard v Spurs. And that's cool, loved both. But the "Red Cartel" trophy cabinet is real, and won fairly and squarely at home and abroad. Rome, Barcelona, White Hart Lane, etc etc. Chelsea, City ( and other clubs now) feel 60 years of being crap entitles them to a turbo charged catch up programme based on state ownership, oligarchy and alleged serious financial wrongdoing. Those clubs should all come together and force the Prem to change all sorts of rules. They don't. Why? They all look after number 1.

So if only United, Liverpool and Arsenal can afford the best players, that's a level playing field yeah? Those three trash clubs have brainwashed everyone into thinking that. In what other business, is an owner forbidden to invest his own money? That's not bent?

Back in 2014, there was a man who was already aware of the irregularities involving Manchester City. That man now runs FIFA. The infamous Gianni Infantino, then UEFA General Secretary, abused his authority, shared confidential documents and, in short, outmanoeuvred the Investigatory Chamber, doing everything in his power to ensure that both Manchester City and PSG would merely receive a fine, avoiding a deeper investigation that could have led to a Champions League ban. All of these details were also revealed through Football Leaks. Given his actions as UEFA General Secretary and, more recently, as FIFA President, I can only say, in my humble opinion, that Gianni Infantino has become a cancer on football and should have no place in the future of the game.

Arsene Wenger on Manchester City's £400m sponsorship deal with Etihad Airways in 2011: "It raises the real question about the credibility of the financial fair play. "That is what this is all about. They give us the message that they can get around it by doing what they want. It means financial fair play will not come in. It is as simple as that. I can understand how they do it but it raises the real question. The difficulty and the credibility of the financial fair play is at stake. "Plus, if the financial fair play is to have a chance, the sponsorship has to be at the market price. It cannot be doubled, tripled or quadrupled because that means it is better that we don't do it and we leave everybody free. That can be defended as well, but if they bring the rules in they have to be respected."

As both damaging and entertaining as this is, I do prefer it when we have the type of scandal that made the Premier League the greatest league on earth to begin with. Although we do still need to question the conduct of the officials in this game.
BREAKING: The Premier League has confirmed that Man City have been found guilty of all charges relating to serious breaches of financial rules. The PL said the club used "sham" contracts to inflate revenues and cut costs by £900m. @RobHarris trib.al/KU6nISA

FYI if this were true, which I wholeheartedly doubt it is. Players would be within their right to leave the football club on the basis they were signed under false pretences. Each agent discussed the investigation with MCFC, what assurances were they given or were they lied to?
This is interesting. If City were informed of the verdict in July, yet still went on to spend £125m on Enzo Fernandez, £85m on Ayyoub Bouaddi, £65m on Iliman Ndiaye and £35m on Allan, they clearly didn’t think much of it. Or was the verdict simply not as bad as it was made to look publicly?

🚨 MAJOR BREAKING: Premier League confirm an independent Commission has found Manchester City GUILTY OF ALL CHARGES related to serious breaches of the Premier League’s financial rules over a nine-season period, and the majority of charges in relation to its failure to co-operate with the League’s investigation. The club has the right to appeal the independent Commission’s findings and has until Friday 2 October to exercise that right. The Premier League Board’s intention is that the full process (including any appeals and publication of relevant decisions) is concluded as soon as possible. The independent Commission found that between Seasons 2009/10 and 2017/18: - Manchester City arranged ‘sham’ contracts (which misrepresented the true agreement between the parties) with a number of its commercial partners, as well as relying on ‘sham’ agreements with others, to artificially inflate the club’s revenues and reduce its costs - The club filed misstated accounts and concealed the true state of its finances from its auditors and football regulators - Manchester City was significantly in breach of both the Premier League’s and UEFA’s spending limits - During the Premier League’s investigation, Manchester City committed multiple breaches of its duties of co-operation and utmost good faith towards the League (three of the four alleged breaches were upheld)

And I love my mother, but I wouldn’t have told her to go out and steal T-Bone steaks from Waitrose because I wasn’t satisfied with the ones I could afford from Morrisons. If you love someone, you support them to be the best they can be. You don’t pump them full of steroids!
LOYALTY IS MORE THAN TROPHIES — IT’S LOVE FOR THE CLUB. 💙⚽️ I have been a Manchester City fan since 2009, and throughout all these years, one thing has never changed: my love for this club. I have been here for the incredible moments, the unforgettable victories, the celebrations, the trophies, and the nights that made us proud to be Citizens. But I have also been here through the difficult moments, the disappointments, the criticism, and the times when things didn’t go our way. Because being a fan isn’t about supporting your club only when everything is perfect. Real loyalty means staying when times are hard. We believe in our club. We believe in our players. We believe in our manager. And we believe in our board and the direction of Manchester City. Whatever happens, whatever challenges come our way, our support will not disappear. Football will always have ups and downs, but our love for this club is bigger than any single result, trophy, season, or difficult moment. Since 2009, I have watched this club grow, evolve, and create memories that I will carry for the rest of my life. And through every chapter, my heart has remained BLUE. Nothing will change our love for this amazing club. Through the good times. Through the bad times. Through every victory and every setback. We stand together. We believe. We stay loyal. MANCHESTER CITY — TODAY, TOMORROW, AND ALWAYS. 💙🔵 COME ON CITY! 💙⚡️ #mancity #fyp #primerleague #family

I think @IanDoyleSport has somehow missed the whole point of what those 114 charges Man City are guilty of, actually enables them to do on and off the pitch. They didn’t become superior from obtaining the best coaches, players and resources money can buy, simply by chance 🤦‍♂️
Re: Man City. Regardless of how it ends up, no advocate of titles being handed to clubs who finished second. They didn't win it. City did. And sometimes City were so far ahead, teams would have fought harder to finish second if they knew this was maybe coming further down line

Man City fans are on the defensive. Desperately pushing for a fine and nothing else. Claiming nobody really cares and it would be more damaging to the premier league if they were to be stripped of titles and relegated. They. Are. Desperate 😂😂
