Verified users can trade politics, sports, economy, and crypto markets without leaving the wallet after completing Kalshi KYC. Funding runs through Phantom Cash with the CASH stablecoin. Kalshi holds the trading accounts and settlement while Phantom supplies the interface and self-custody stack. State restrictions apply for now: sports markets blocked in Michigan, broader categories limited in Nevada, and even wider limits in Washington while lawsuits play out. Phantom’s general counsel said the company is comfortable proceeding under clear CFTC jurisdiction. This puts a major self-custody wallet’s distribution in front of CFTC-regulated event contracts rather than keeping prediction markets siloed in standalone apps. The practical test is whether wallet users who already hold crypto will treat these contracts as a native activity or treat the KYC and funding step as friction. State-level blocks also show the federal-state tension is still shaping real product access even after CFTC staff engagement.
