I was flying from Frankfurt to the US ~20 years ago and had a duffel bag full of networking gear - loose cards, wifi adapters, desktop switches, and tons of cables.
Yeah, I got ALL the secondary security screening, courtesy of some very unfriendly and heavily armed German cops. Shoes off, very invasive pat-down of all body parts, multiple rounds through the metal detector for me, disassembling everything I was carrying and passing it through the x-rays several times, etc.
The fact I had an Official (not Diplomatic though) US passport? Irrelevant.
I think what made them most upset was that the skinny 22 year old tech guy WASN'T smuggling a bomb and they'd wasted their time.
Luckily, I still made my flight.
At airport security. TSA: Sir, what is this equipment?
Me: #FPGAs! They're fantastic! They're like the LEGO of hardware!
TSA: What do they do?
Me: Anything! Mid-flight you can reprogram these circuits in #Haskell using Lava to do anything!
TSA: Sir, please step this way
I still fly with FPGA boards to use in demos for my talks, but now I just call them “networking cards.”

It's clever for sure, forcing to it be an ADA violation of you prevent them, but man I can't stand people wearing them.
Was at a bar in SF back in June and refused to participate in the usual water cooler talk among industry peers because of people wearing Meta Glasses.
The risk of saying something that's later taken out of context or otherwise used against you when it's video evidence is absolutely going to kill casual conversation.
Meta Glasses can now serve as FDA-cleared hearing aids. I'm pretty proud of this one -- they're medical grade, help with mild to moderate hearing loss, and a fraction of the cost of a normal hearing aid.

We need common sense burger regulations to prevent that kind of widespread poisoning. It's entirely possible that we can't control our burgers and they will spontaneously evolve and start hurting our customers, but the market demands I keep providing succulent beef cakes to people, so you need to stop me before someone gets hurt.

Unrelated, I'm pleased to report that rack pulls didn't tear the stitches on my chest. 😅
Turns out that doctor DIDN'T know what she was talking about! I'm less confident in my ability to do bench press tomorrow.

I was the raid leader who kept pushing my mostly casual Classic guild into raiding.
We did MC okay and pushed into BWL.
One day after killing Nef, about half the guild called me out saying I was pushing them too hard & gquit on the spot.
It was a long time coming & they were right. It was the type of guild for how serious I was taking it.
That said, it was nearly 20 years before I accepted another management job.
There's probably a lesson in there.
A kid who knows how to raid in WoW is unironically a better hire than 99% of non gamers. They develop team skills, coordination, leadership, how to master the respect of 40 people, how to share loot, maintaining a raid schedule, showing up on time, clear direct communication, how to get along with unique personalities, creating and executing on strategies, failing and trying again (perseverance), delayed gratification, etc. Invaluable skills are developed during raiding that are transferrable to the real world.

The "cybersecurity" community has developed core principles over the last 40 years encouraging openness and opposing control and retaliation.
OpenAI and Anthropic insist that we need to discard 40 years of these lessons and do the opposite.
This is important because the cornerstone of their doomerism scenarios is rogue AI hacking the Internet. The one thing we need to stop rogue AI hacking is the thing they are trying to destroy.
OpenAI: “how should we engage more with the security community?”
