Dear frens of @BarryBarredOwl I wanted to share this painting of our favorite barred owl that I just received from my mother, who is also the artist. #birdcpp
My tribute to Barry, Central Park's beloved Barred Owl, who died last week. A magical, people-friendly creature, she gave New Yorkers hope during the dark days of the pandemic. via @nytimesnytimes.com/2021/08/11/scien…
We want to honor our Barry any & every way we can. A tribute video is a fitting start, but we need your help. For those willing to record a short video, please click the form below to see how we’d benefit from your participation:

We will be taking submissions through Monday, 8/16. Whether recorded in your home, on a park bench, or by her hemlock, we hope to capture how many hoomans adored The Queen of Manhootan. Thank you 🦉
Couldn’t sleep last night… was up for hours thinking back to this @Deb_Rosenthal tweet from February. I hope more than anything there is a Hemlock Heaven 🌲⛅️🦉
Barry, you look so sad in this photo. Even though you're in Hemlock heaven you look sleepy and sad. It's only a matter of time before you'll have a bunch of hungry owlets to feed.
We invite those who loved Central Park's BARRED OWL to an informal vigil for her on Monday, August 9, by her old hemlock tree near the Boathouse in the Central Park Ramble at 6:30 pm. This day would have been her ten-month anniversary in the park.

A magical #birding moment in #CentralPark. Passersby admire the barred #owl respectfully from a path by Azalea Pond. She is a great ambassador for our park, inspiring awe and wonder in those who don’t expect #wildlife like her to live here. #birdcpp#BirdTwitter#bird#nature
