I really see no reason to be upset at the NHL for amalgamating the histories of the original and current Jets.
It's not like it changes NHL history in any meaningful way. There are no new Stanley Cup championships for the current Jets to claim.

And besides, the Jets, since their return to Winnipeg, have always leaned into the history. At the beginning, Evander Kane even asked Bobby Hull for permission to wear #9 with the Jets.
Manitobans have felt this for a long time. Now, it's official. And I think it's great.

This has to be amazing for Jets fans. They always treated professional hockey in Winnipeg as one story, and now, it officially is one story.

The case of the Winnipeg Jets' statistical history being amalgamated with a past iteration of the franchise is very similar to that of the Cleveland Browns of the NFL and the Charlotte Hornets of the NBA.
Might be unique in the NHL (for now), but hardly unprecedented.

I fear that Trump's arrangement in Venezuela will come at great expense to the Venezuelan people.
It's good that Nicolás Maduro was captured. But US policy on Venezuela should be focused on restoring the fundamental rights of which the Venezuelan people have long been deprived.
