This is one of the reasons I think we will see the slow death of the 70+ t (MLC 80+) MBT, to be replaced by lighter, more flexible Medium tanks (MLC 45-50). Outside of the deserts of Iraq, the big MBTs need too much mobility support to manoeuvre freely. 1/2

🇨🇦 Canada's Defence Industrial Strategy is finally here. It's ambitious in its goals, but light on specifics. The fact that now Canada even has such a document is a positive development, but it remains to be seen whether the government can execute. A few thoughts. 🧵⤵️ 1/12

This whole "Sparta > Athens bc athens politics and Sparta Warriors" Debate always reminds me of this video. Countries win and survive on belief. Sparta doesn't exist, except in oily men in a movie. Athens informs our everyday institutions and policies. We study their tactics.

Sparta was literally a gay communist state. When Spartans got married, they had to take the bride, shave her head, and dress her like a boy so her husband could figure out how to fuck her (his sexual experiences up to that point having been getting buttfucked in an all-male dorm). Sparta actively undermined the family unit through stuff like this. Spartans were expected to be loyal to the state and nothing but, and relationships like marriages and the like were seen as a threat to this loyalty. Spartan warriors also fussed over their appearances before a battle, spending hours styling their hair and trying out different sets of earrings. They were so gay that pretty much every other Greek made fun of them. They weren't even good fighters. The Spartans were crushed at the Battle of Leuctra because they were completely incapable of anything more than basic shield wall fighting and they literally set up their armies in the exact same way for every battle. Epaminondas used a massed cavalry charge during the battle, assembling his best troops on his left flank and using them to smash the Spartans' right flank, a move that not only caused the Spartans to retreat, but got a third of their men killed (including the Spartan king). That battle ended Sparta as both a credible military force and a cultural presence in the ancient world, because Epaminondas used their own stupidity and intransigence against them. Epaminondas' tactics would be later expanded on by Philip II and Alexander the Great. He also liberated Sparta's helots, the slave class that made it possible for the Spartans to be gay communists. Sparta was, in fact, very retarded. The only people who admire them are meatheads who think yelling and screaming are substitutes for governance.
Nah, you’re right. Sparta was retarded. So retarded they allowed dudes in dresses on the front line. So retarded they let drag queen story hours happen on military bases. So retarded they pushed mandatory DEI training that critics said wasted time, divided troops, and hurt morale while recruitment tanked. So retarded they opened up transgender service fully, funding gender affirming care and letting personnel serve openly. So retarded they forced pronoun usage and “preferred” terms in official guidance, turning basic address into a battlefield of its own instead of focusing on lethality. So retarded they ran recruitment ads emphasizing social justice vibes over raw combat strength, which some blamed for missing goals by thousands and turning off traditional enlistees. Oh wait, no, that was us. The U.S. military spent years chasing Athenian vibes while the world watched. Nobody is saying Sparta was perfect. Everyone wants an ideal mix between Athens and them to some degree. But the Overton window has to shift. Because it’s been weak and lame for far too long. It got so bad that any semblance of strength (romanticized or otherwise) is preferred over whatever the hell we just endured.

You CANNOT make this up. The Iranian Regime has been elected as Vice Chair of UN Commission for Social Development. The purpose of this is to promote democracy, gender equality and non-violence. “I hear no objection” The UN is not fit for purpose.

However—the novel actually seems horribly prophetic in this regard. Current groyper ideology *definitely* has misogyny, rather than racism, at its actual heart. It’s kind of insane that a ‘30s novel ended up getting Hitler totally wrong but accurately predicting Nick Fuentes.

“Swastika Night”—a popular anti-Nazi novel from 1937, set after they conquer the world—is really eye-opening. Despite trying to depict a maximally-horrible dystopia, it manages to seriously *underrate* how bad the actual Nazi regime would get.

When Musk blocked Russian Starlink last week, it stranded infiltration teams that relied on drones for food and ammo. Ukraine pounced. Assault troops with Abrams tanks attacked along nine vectors in Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia, clearing five settlements near the Haichur River. But this isn't a counteroffensive — it's a race to fortify the weakest sector of the front before 715,000 Russian troops launch their expected spring push. "This is not a counteroffensive, but a clearing operation," analyst Clément Molin explained. "The priority is to secure the Haichur River and Pokrovske approach." euromaidanpress.com/2026/02/…

Today is the 29th day of the month, so I choose to post the monthly stats now instead of waiting for the actual end because I believe in chaos. So far this month is the second highest KIA total we have seen in video footage, with three days remaining and the highest KIA per day we've ever had, so it will likely take the top spot. We are seeing 190.6 dead Russians per day, with a peak of 384 on January 19th and the minimum actually happened to be yesterday with 106. December and January are, historically, the highest KIA months for Russia, and we will probably see the KIA trend downward toward June. Granted, historically, the total deaths are also simultaneously increasing, so the trend line is more shallow than it would be otherwise. Last year we peaked at 151.9 KIA/Day in January, then sat around the 130-140 mark until May when it pretty rapidly dropped to the minima of 102.7 in June before gradually rising again. If we follow that same sort of trend again this year, I suspect the next 2-3 months will be around 160-170 KIA/Day followed by dipping down to around 130 in June. But I am only pattern matching the trend over time, and we will see what happens. However, I hope I can dispel the silliness of measuring KIA "from the beginning of the year to now" going forward, and instead sticking to the repeating seasonal cycle we've seen all war.
