I think we could be walking into a new Renaissance, and I want to attempt things I would’ve laughed at myself for suggesting five years ago. AI can help you build software, turn an idea into a working prototype and learn enough to attempt things you previously dismissed as beyond you. You still need judgement and you still need to check the work, but “I don’t know how” is a pretty weak excuse for never starting. Some of you assessed your abilities at nineteen and have been enforcing that decision like a court order ever since. Revisit the business you couldn’t afford to test, the project that needed skills you didn’t have, the subject you decided was above your intellectual pay grade. I want to see what happens when curiosity gets a serious budget of time and effort. I’m perfectly happy to look incompetent while I’m learning. Staying competent at something I’ve grown to hate sounds considerably worse. That ambition extends to the person I’m becoming. I want to be in the best shape I can get myself into, with the strength and energy to enjoy the freedom I’m working towards. A healthy body and a clear mind belong in the plan, along with reading things that challenge me and becoming someone the people around me can rely on. The Renaissance I’m interested in has more people making things they would previously have needed permission, credentials or a much larger organisation to attempt. I want a part in that, with work I own, savings in Bitcoin and enough freedom to follow an interesting idea somewhere inconvenient. Be delusional about your dreams and brutally honest about what you did today to get closer to them. We have the tools; you still have to do the reading, finish the project, get your arse to the gym and keep going when the novelty wears off. Imagine living through all this and only aspiring to keep your job. Onwards.
