India’s latest growth forecasts are yet another reminder that the country’s economic story continues to surprise on the upside. What makes this particularly significant is that ADB, OECD, S&P and Fitch have all raised their growth projections for India, with their FY27 forecasts now clustered around 6.9% to 7.1%. Four major global institutions, independently assessing the Indian economy, have all moved their outlook upwards. This comes at a time when the global economy continues to face geopolitical tensions, trade disruptions, volatile markets and considerable uncertainty. Yet India’s strong domestic demand and economic momentum have led major international institutions to become more optimistic about its growth prospects. And then there are the usual Piddis and Naraj Fufas who have spent years predicting India’s economic doom. Every time global institutions upgrade India’s outlook, their favourite “collapse” narrative gets a little harder to defend. India keeps upgrading its growth forecast. Tiruvallur, Tamil Nadu: Thirty-six students were hospitalised after a lizard was allegedly found in the breakfast served at Kottaiyur Panchayat Union Middle School. Some of the students reportedly developed vomiting and dizziness after consuming the food and were taken to Tiruvallur Government Medical College Hospital for treatment and observation. District Collector Kavitha inspected the hospital and school and enquired about their condition.
