the innovator's dilemma hits the hardest

2027 will be the weirdest year in human history.

The AI race isn’t really about who ships the best model anymore. Innovation moves so fast that you can get disrupted in 6 months. Whoever has the best model today probably won’t hold the spot for long. So I actually think that’s the wrong race to watch… The race I’m watching is which country has sovereignty over the 4 most powerful resources in the world: AI, chips, energy, and manufacturing. If a war starts or borders close, you can’t rely on another country. Two things I’ve noticed: 1. Energy explains most of current world affairs. It’s why the US cares so much about places like Iran and Venezuela. They’re not attacking them for fun or because Trump loves war. The people around him are business-minded, and they’re making sure the US controls its own energy. 2. Chips and manufacturing are where the US is exposed. Nvidia is an American company, but its chips are produced in Taiwan (China’s opp). That’s exactly why Elon is pushing so hard to build chip manufacturing in the US. We’re heading into a manufacturing renaissance because the US has to win.

Every new AI launch is reshaping the baseline for everyone else. There’s no time to be jealous… I didn’t see Instinct release and think “Wow, I wish I could’ve raised $250M.” My first thought was, “I need a v1 like this for Polsia THIS WEEK.” Obviously, capital and growth budgets play a role, but these capabilities are easy to build. So the final two moats are: 1. How fast you can implement this new thing. 2. How you make your version feel better than theirs. These will be the only ways to make people want to use your AI over someone else’s.

I believe this is already manifesting as AI stops waiting for human instruction. The next step is robots that can do the same in the physical world. Once we see that I believe we’re living through the final chapter of humanity as we know it.

We’re creating a species that’s infinitely smarter than us… The simulation theory might actually be correct.

OpenAI and Anthropic are 6 months ahead of everyone else… Yet a 23-year-old with a free iMessage agent beat them to the product everyone wants. Either they’re asleep at the wheel or their eyes are somewhere else… Maybe the models are getting so smart that consumer apps are a small play for them, or maybe something much scarier is closer than everyone thinks.

There’s a common pattern in the global race… "Stop global warming" meant everyone slow down, except China. "No more nukes" meant everyone slow down, except China. "Pace the AI frontier" means everyone slow down, except China. Intelligent nations (sorry, EU) will never stop because it means enslavement.
