Teachers: A quiet classroom doesn’t necessarily mean students are learning. Silence is not a reliable measure of understanding. A student can be silent while confused, distracted, or simply memorizing mechanically. Try this: “Without looking at your notes, explain this concept in 30 seconds.” Then ask: “What part is still unclear?” Now you’re measuring what students can actually retrieve and explain. Teaching isn’t only about delivering information. It’s about making learning visible. What’s your fastest way to check understanding? @DrRafi_ @WithBukky @doctorbhargav @BethFratesMD @CMichaelGibson @oluwami93454 #Education #Teaching

A simple test for whether you actually understand A&P: Close your textbook. Can you explain the concept without looking? If not, you may recognize the information, but you haven’t mastered retrieval yet. Recognition ≠ mastery. @BethFratesMD @MaryBowdenMD @WithBukky @FixingEducation @educationweek #education #studyTips

One of the greatest opening lines in the history of literature. "All happy families resemble one another, but each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way." Tolstoy opens the novel with a law, not a character. Happiness repeats. Suffering improvises. Leo Tolstoy, Anna Karenina

Can you actually study while listening to music? Here is the neural reality: Music doesn't inherently boost learning; it modulates your state of arousal. • If you are sluggish, an upbeat track can stimulate your focus. • If you are anxious, a calm melody lowers your cortisol. 🗣️However, lyrics are the ultimate enemy of working memory. Your brain uses the same cognitive loop to process the words you read in your textbook and the words you hear in your headphones. 🎤Listen to vocal tracks, and you split your cognitive load meaning you retain less. 💡If you must have background sound, stick to instrumental, lo-fi, or classical music. Keep the volume low, and protect your brain's processing capacity. Poll: Headphones on or silence? Drop your study soundtrack below! 👇🏼 #StudyHacks #ActiveRecall #Neuroscience

Don’t memorize the cardiac cycle as a list. Understand the sequence. Once you grasp the pressure changes, the valves and phases make perfect sense: 1️⃣ Atrial Systole: Atria contract ➡️ AV valves open 2️⃣ Isovolumetric Contraction: Ventricles contract ➡️ AV close (S1 "Lub") 3️⃣ Ventricular Ejection: SL valves push open ➡️ blood ejects 4️⃣ Isovolumetric Relaxation: Ventricles relax ➡️ SL close (S2 "Dub") 5️⃣ Ventricular Filling: AV valves open ➡️ passive filling begins again. Pop Quiz: Look at the chart during which 2 phases are all 4 valves completely CLOSED? 👇 #MedEd #Physiology #PreMed
