Last week at a fly shop in Montana the clerk let me walk out with a $1000 rod to test it at a nearby park. Didn’t even take my ID.
Days later I was at a CVS in DC and had to ask permission to buy a can of shaving cream locked behind a glass case.
Not the same civilization.
Wyoming is what America was.
I had the chance to glimpse an old school "high trust" society this weekend at the Cody Wyoming, Winchester antique gun show. Vendors whose tables were covered with $100K plus of highly pilferable antique firearms would step out for a smoke or to walk their dog and leave only a sign "back in 10" on their unguarded table. There was no crime nor foreign invaders. It's easy to forget this level of law and order was the norm and not an exception. At high noon all attending paused for the National Anthem played on an old cavalry bugle. Our Republic is worth defending from those who would wreck this.
