An update on the Bigscreen Beyond 2 Halo Mount.
In June, we successfully shipped the first batch of Halo Mounts to customers, as promised in our April update. These production units incorporate numerous design improvements, and we're happy with how well the new Flip-Up mechanism is performing.
However, during preparation for mass production, we found that a plastic part known as the "sledge link" could break in the first batch of units, potentially affecting an estimated 2-5% of customers. Because the Beyond is used for thousands of hours, durability is paramount, and at mass scale, >1% failure rates are unacceptable.
The engineering team made another tough call: changing this part from injection molded plastic to injection molded metal (MIM). This significantly improves durability, but comes with one final delay of approximately 7 weeks.
We expect to resume production by August 20, ship the next batch in early September, and fully catch up on the preorder backlog in November. Based on results from the first batch, we anticipate no further engineering changes or delays.
We're sorry for the wait. We think the version shipping to customers will ultimately be worth it.
