Author's Note | First Draft Complete | Port Harvest
I first had the idea during the pandemic. Back in May, I finally put pen to paper. Now the first draft is done and the cover art is finished, and that brings me to my favorite part: adding the spices.
Writing is a lot like cooking gumbo. First draft is the roux, the base that makes everything else possible. From here on out it's continuity checks, editing, refinement, and une pincée de cajun.
Coming Soon 2027
1.4 million acres of swamp. One killer. One door left to kick.

Somewhere out there, someone just bought the first paperback of The Ophiuchus Signal.
I don't know who you are, but thank you. You took a chance on a story that started with a birdwatcher staring at old sky archives and wondering what else might be listening.
I hope it keeps you up a night or two. 🪶😀

September 28, 2026 – Morning | Denham Springs, Louisiana – The Bird Garden | 72°F, clear and calm with a soft sunrise | The kind of morning that makes the drive feel like a gift.
The neighborhood was looking very lovely this morning when I left for work. Quiet streets, warm light, that first gold sitting on the roofs and trees. A simple sunrise, and it was enough.

September 24, 2026 – Morning | Denham Springs, Louisiana – The Bird Garden | 86°F and partly cloudy | Some mornings the garden runs a quiet open house.
A male bluebird stopped by to check out a house; perched, peered, took his time like a careful buyer. No rush. Just that bright blue on the edge of deciding whether this porch might be home.

September 26, 2026 – Morning | Denham Springs, Louisiana – The Bird Garden | 66°F and partly cloudy | Good morning, and may your day start the way the Gulf does.
This morning I’m sharing a sunrise from the beach on the Gulf of Mexico. The water went from gray to gold one slow wave at a time, and the whole horizon seemed to take its time waking up. Some mornings you don’t chase the light. You just stand still and let it find you.

Author's Note | The Long Goodbye | Final Proofread
The final proofread of The Long Goodbye Chapter 9 is done. There’s a particular quiet that comes with reading a story one last time before letting it go. It stops being something I’m still shaping and starts being something I’m about to share. And I’m not resting long. I’m about to start Chapter 10 of 12, and I can feel the ending getting close.
Getting it ready for hits October 15, 2026 release.

September 24, 2026 | Morning | Denham Springs, Louisiana – The Bird Garden | 76°F and partly cloudy | My favorite time of year is when the green starts giving way.
Orange, gold, and red lean into the leaves, and the world seems to banish the humidity from our lives like a giant releasing a held breath. The Bird Garden feels lighter already like the air remembered how to move again.
