⛏ If I started crypto mining all over again and didn't have a YouTube channel, I would NOT expand like I did, into 3 Crypto Mining Sheds. I'd go straight from a solo miner/gpu miner into ASIC hosting. Here's why: 1/ Let's get the obvious part out of the way: the sheds, the property, the electrical buildout, I love that stuff. It's my happy place. But if I strip away the content creation side of things, none of that ever needed to happen. 2/ Between sheds, electrical infrastructure, and labor, I've put well over $100K into physical mining infrastructure at home. Think about how many miners that could've bought and put to work quickly. 3/ If you don't have a Youtube channel to build around, create content for, provide guides, how to's, share lesson's learned, you don't need any of that. You need your miners running and profitable as fast as possible. That's it! Hosting gets you there without the overhead. 4/ Home mining sounds appealing because it feels like control. But most of the "control" people want is really just a trust issue "it has to be here where I can see it." I get it... But that mindset costs you real money. 5/ Every dollar you sink into cooling, airflow, electrical panels, and noise mitigation is a dollar that isn't buying hashrate. And most people massively underestimate how much of a problem heat and sound actually become once you're running real hardware. 6/ I've had calls with guys who bought two units, planned to run them in a spare bedroom "for now." Didn't even make it a full day before reaching back out asking where to ship them for hosting. Heat and noise will humble you fast. Especially married folks! 7/ Yes, hosting costs a little more per kWh than running it yourself, sometimes. But that small premium buys you: no buildout cost, no cooling headaches, no airflow engineering, no noise complaints, no maintenance, and no risk of a bad DIY setup tanking your uptime. I'd know ... I've made so many mistakes. 8/ Run the math on total cost of ownership, not just the electric rate. Once you factor in what home setups actually cost to build and maintain, hosting is usually the cheaper and smarter path to scale, especially if uptime and simplicity matter more than a lower kWh number on paper. 9/ My honest path if I were starting today with zero YouTube ambitions: get a wallet → grab a cheap solo miner to learn the fundamentals → once I had capital, skip home scaling entirely and go straight into hosted ASICs. 10/ If you're looking at hosting, go check out @BlockopsMining they host ASICs out of Arkansas. ASIC hosting companies have taken notice and are shifting infrastructure to support Hydro, not just Air. Home miners looking to make that first big leap into serious ASIC territory are skipping air cooled entirely and going straight to Hydro. More hashrate per unit, more future proofing, more bang for your buck. Now really is a great time to be buying, whether you're upgrading a farm or making your first big miner purchase. Vet the company. Ask about uptime, hardware, electric rates, invoicing, and customer service.
