So this just blew my mind…
U.S. golf courses use about 531 billion gallons of water a year. All U.S. data centers use about 17–22 billion gallons on-site — roughly 25 times less.
That matters because the “data centers will suck up all the water” talking point treats a real local issue as a national water crisis. Nationally, they are a small user compared to golf, lawns, and especially farms.
Granted, there are smaller towns that have local issues with water, but overall, it looks like it hyped up more than need be.
I’m not saying we shouldn’t.. I’m saying the messaging on why we should has been piss poor. I’m saying insulting people because they don’t support them is not the right way to go.
People understandably have concerns especially after what we went through…
I don’t like AI.. but everyone keeps telling me we have no choice, it’s coming no matter what… we need to be first. We have to beat China. Cool. But doesn’t mean I have to pretend to like it.
I don’t like Mark Zuckerberg.
Larry Ellison. And all these technocratic freaks leading the AI charge who cheered on the erosion of our rights during Covid…
