🫨ApeCoin Secretary Shakeup🫨 Today, BojangleGuy resigned as ApeCoin Secretary via a long post detailing issues he sees with the DAO structure. Here's the tl;dr on his post, some thoughts on his issues, and a potential path forward... 💸Compensation Concerns💸 Bojangle expressed the current pay structure, stating that salaries are disproportionately high compared to the actual output of work. He noted it's unsustainable model is straining the DAO’s resources. 🦥Steward Stagnation🦥 He stated he felt many of the stewards are inactive or disengaged, failing to fulfill their roles. This lack of involvement has caused a leadership vacuum, delaying key initiatives and overall progress. ☎️Communication Breakdown☎️ He asserted that poor communication has led to confusion and misalignment on goals and strategies. He called it, "highly inefficient in a setting where all working groups should be working together to achieve one common goal." 📝Lack of Accountability📝 He also felt that the lack of accountability is stalling the DAO's progress, and said that a few strong workers make the DAO appear functional... almost like a few people carrying a group project in school. 💡A Path Forward?💡 Two disclosures and one thought up front. 1) The ApeCoin DAO passed a AIP to sponsor my morning show, and I'm beyond appreciative of that. I'll continue to do everything in my power to help it succeed. 2) I'm I'm absolutely not an expert in DAOs, but do believe decentralized governance can be a game changer in many aspects acorss the world. 3) Thank you to BojangleGuy bringing this to light in your resignation. Your work for the DAO is appreciated, your perspective is unique, and your constructive feedback brings incredible value. Okay, my thoughts... DAOs are still very much an experiment. The working groups and their stewards clearly care about the DAO, and they didn't get involved to collect a paycheck and watch it crumble. While I don't know the inner workings like Bojangle, I don't think it's a people issue as much as a structural and operational issue. ⚒️Consulting Clarity⚒️ I image we have an Organizational Consultant somewhere in the BAYC/ApeCoin ecosystem who can look over the process, review accountability mechanisms, and study other DAOs to see what works and what doesn't. I realize some may see this as flying in the face of decentralized governance, but an AIP to compensate this person could be transparent and very much in the spirit of the DAO. Rather than spin our wheels speculating on what's best, I would prefer an expert to come in who has a passion for BAYC, ApeCoin, the DAO to suggest a path forward which could help the DAO see operational success.
