This might sound like cope or come off as a very unpopular opinion,
But i genuinely like the fact that Bored Apes have almost lost their luxury status both in and out of the NFT bubble.
For me, being a member of
@BoredApeYC has never been a wealth symbol tbh,
I like my Ape to be a symbol of my dedication to this space and not just a shallow flex of the alleged depth of my pockets.
Bored Apes lost a lot of that niche nerdy digital nativeness in the last cycle with celebrities and rich kids pumping them up like iced out Rolexes, making them a digital gold chain for people to wear their net worth on their online avatars with.
I dont know what the initial vision of
@GordonGoner and
@CryptoGarga was for the kind of social status rocking a Bored Ape should represent - and i’d love to know that btw - but being a Bored Ape has always been about doubling down on unapologetic weirdness and owning a sort of playful progressiveness for me personally,
And yes, in a way, i’m kinda glad to see how the recent price action of these weird silly cartoon monkeys is thinning the herd in a way that spotlights the few geeks and weirdos left who are in it for the fun, friends and vibes.
I choose weird over rich,
All day, every day.
