I bet you skip neck work; I know I used to. Here's why this was a stupid move while playing an impact sport like football.
Strong neck muscles can absorb more impact, meaning less force reaches your brain when you take a hit. This reduces the chances of your head snapping around, which is a major cause of concussions. Research shows that athletes with stronger necks experience smaller head accelerations during impacts, lowering their concussion risk.
