The State of Pakistani Politics، A Crisis of Immaturity
Pakistani politics remains trapped in a perpetual cycle of immaturity. Majority of our political class, has failed to graduate beyond the narrow confines of self interest and partisan gain.
Whether in power or in opposition, their priority is personal and party interest. The national interest is least on the agenda. They have never made a sincere effort to bring political stability to the country.
Instead of political coexistence, they harbor visceral hatred for each other's very existence. Their sole objective seems to be the complete annihilation of the opponent, so that they may rule unchallenged for eternity.
Their conduct is defined by sheer hypocrisy. When in power, their attitude is one of absolute authority. When relegated to the opposition, the same politicians hurl abuses at the Army, vilify the Establishment, and raise slogans against the very institutions they once venerated.
They are willing to commit every conceivable wrong to capture power. They speak of giving respect to the vote, yet they themselves trample upon the sanctity of the vote for the sake of power. They invoke the Constitution and the rule of law, yet they do not hesitate to subvert and demolish the same Constitution and law when it serves their pursuit of power.
In such a deplorable state of affairs, how can the nation possibly progress?
The idea of creating new administrative units is indeed a forward looking step to ensure equitable distribution of resources. However, alongside this, there is an urgent need to forge a new Social Contract, a new Political Contract, and a new, effective Model of Governance. Only then can Pakistan move forward in accordance with its true potential. The powerfull Circles to look into it.
