This isn't yet a formal proposal but considering the stance I've seen many people within GNOME hold I would be incredibly surprised if we don't see a project wide ban on AI use. Not everyone is GNOME is completely against AI use but it does seem to be the majority opinion of the core devs.
Probably something akin to if you want to be hosted on the GNOME infrastructure you must follow this policy
On a related noted I'm curious what this means long term for the FOSS world, the 2 biggest DEs have almost opposite stances:
GNOME is completely against AI use, some people in the project don't even like AI bug reports
KDE is open to AI being used as long as there's a human in the loop who understands the code.

What interests me is where this puts GNOME's relationship with Red Hat, my understanding is a lot of there devs are heavily encouraged or interested in using AI, I've seen quite a few people experimenting in and around GNOME with AI, notably Christian Schaller blogs.gnome.org/uraeus/2026/…
