OTD in 1991, the Oilers hammer the Broncos 42-14 at the Astrodome to move to 4-1 on the season.
The defense led the way in this one, despite the final score, highlighted by 6 sacks, including 5 of the elusive John Elway, and Cris Dishman's 19-yard FR TD which put the home team ahead 28-0 in the second quarter.
Things got off to a rocky start for Denver when Bubba McDowell recovered a blocked punt in the end zone for an early 7-0 Houston lead.
Two one-yard scores by Allen Pinkett and Lorenzo White gave the Oilers a 21-0 lead before Dishman pounced on a Steve Sewell fumble for the 4-touchdown lead.
In the 4th, after an Elway 70-yard bomb to Ricky Nattiel, Pinkett put a final nail in Denver's coffin when he took a Warren Moon pass 36 yards for the major.
In addition to his FR TD, Dishman also picked off Elway and returned it 43 yards. William Fuller had 3 sacks and forced an Elway fumble, which he recovered, while Sean Jones added 2 sacks of his own. McDowell chipped in with a sack of his own.
Ian Howfield kicked 6 extra points.
