On 20 October 1939, as part of the genocidal Operation Tannenberg, the Germans began mass executions of members of the Polish elite in Greater Poland, targeting prominent figures and community leaders. Adolf Hitler, who did not fully trust his own generals, entrusted the task of eliminating the Polish elite to the police units (Einsatzgruppen) and SS forces under Heinrich Himmler's command. The entire operation was to be carried out under the cover of the Wehrmacht's military campaign. By the end of 1939, the Germans had murdered nearly 55,000 Polish citizens in this manner in the territories of the Second Polish Republic occupied by Nazi Germany. The victims of these premeditated killings included local community leaders and prominent figures from various walks of life: veterans of Poland's struggle for independence, activists of the Polish Western Union, teachers, priests, industrial workers, peasants, civil servants and landowners.

Twice as many Christians have been murdered by Islamists in Africa in the past year than Palestinians in Gaza during the past three years of war. Yet, the media has entirely ignored the ongoing slaughter of Christians in Africa.

Charity of the Month! Ireland’s prostitution charity Ruhama publishes its annual report, and separately annual audited accounts. It’s eye-opening. Before we begin, and in answer to what Garda Commissioner Drew Harris did next, he’s now on the Ruhama board. Last year, Ruhama’s income increased 25% to €2.5m with nearly all coming from the taxpayer. Around 60% goes on staff, though it’s coy on its project expenditure, with its CEO Barbara Condon presumably on €80-90,000 excluding pension costs. It has increased its staff by 33% in the year to 43. In terms of its core function of helping prostitutes, particularly those trafficked and coerced, transition to other employment, it’s hard to know how genuine its "clients" are, and whether dubious “prostitutes”, nearly all non-Irish are using Ruhama to access employment and housing. It makes much of its “welfare checks” conducted with our friend, Superintendent Derek Maguire’s Garda Organised Prostitition Investigation Unit. As noted by others, like Senator Michael McDowell, Gardai with Ruhama recently conducted 266 welfare checks during Operation Global Chain and didn’t identify a single trafficking victim which is just not credible. Welfare checks have become a substitute for law enforcement (which should be like shooting fish in a barrel) and Ruhama welfare checks are dubious. We no longer have any faith in Ruhama which in 2026, appears to be a self-sustaining (and expanding) NGO and its annual report is a word salad of Li(ngo) Bi(ngo). We don’t actually know what the final infographic below means, what is a “non-cisgender” which apparently excludes what they call “transwomen”? I’m finding that the way I’m staying calm with what’s happening in France and now Italy, is to appreciate the beauty all around. To surround myself with beautiful things, whether that’s a vintage bone china teacup at breakfast, a proper butter dish in which to serve my English butter, a walk in the forest looking at the trees, or a pint in a gorgeous pub by a log fire. The third world savages don’t understand beauty. They cannot create anything beautiful nor appreciate it. But we can, because we have culture and education. So while Europe burns and we wait to be next, I shall enjoy beautiful England. Cheers 🍻
