The governor has directed California to allow winter-blend gasoline to be sold early to help lower prices at the pump. What he should have done is suspend the state’s gas tax for one year to provide Californians with real, immediate relief. This year, I introduced legislation that would have suspended the gas tax, lowering the price of a gallon of gas by $1.08 and saving an average family of four approximately $1,100. Democrats killed my proposal in its first committee hearing. #caleg

Tonight, grief has settled over our Valley after learning that one of our own, CHP Officer Brian Liles, was involved in an on-duty traffic collision. For more than sixteen years, Officer Brian Liles put on that CHP uniform and stood watch over California’s highways, including the communities he served from the Visalia Area. We will honor him as a husband, a father, and a dedicated public servant whose work kept families safe on the roads we travel. I am praying for his wife, children, family and friends who lost an incredible hero this evening. May the Lord wrap them in comfort and give our officers strength as they continue the work that Officer Liles faithfully carried out each day.@CHP_Visalia

In honor of the Week of the Deaf, I want to highlight Senate Bill 331 (Menjivar) that I co-authored. The Let CA Kids Hear Act will ensure kids who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing have access to cochlear implants or hearing aids, no matter what type of insurance their parents have.

Sacramento Democrats passed Senate Bill 125, which will increase private healthcare premiums. It is a $1.5 billion annual hit on private health insurance through 2030, adding an extra $425 a year for families of four on a health plan. It's time to put affordability first. #caleg @CASenReps
